    Buell XB12ss

    Hey there
I dont suppose there is anyone out there with an XB12ss with an after market exhaust. I was wondering where I might be able to get one from in NZ. Also does anyone know if there has to be any other mods done or can the exhaust just be installed without changing anything to do with the fuel injection system.
    Cheers guys

Surely you could get one from a Buell dealer in CHCH?

there is a lot to it......
search "badweatherbikers" and start reading, also xbbuell or buellxb web site.
you can download a report on all aftermarket pipes and it includes dynocharts and speedruns. find this and read it.
with a different pipe you will stuff the mix as the system can only deal with a limited change so you need a race computer as well, you can get the buell race computer but it will only work well with the buell race pipe (they have stopped making the buell race pipe but I got one secondhand from hawaii). it would maybe work ok with some of the other pipes but you may end up with less power or only very high end power. the answer will be in the exhaust report/shootout.
you can get other race computers which are better and can be re-mapped but it will cost more plus you have to pay for dyno time to re-mapp.

after fitting the buell race kit myself ( pipe and computer ) I would not always recommend it. if I was not moving out of the city soon I would have changed back to original setup. the race stuff only gives you a little bit more power and it runs a bit rough, not as smooth as original by a long way.

heaps of the aftermarket pipes only give more volume and worse performance over most of the rev range. the standard pipe is very good.

there is also the exhaust valve/servo/cable that has to be sorted when you make the change, read about this on the sites mentioned or PM me with questions if you need to.

    hope that helps

WTF..........its Oamaru not Mars mate. You obviously have a computer which means any system you want is available if you have a cc.When you get it by all means bolt it up, theres a few basic principles apply though, contrary to popular belief, more air in....or out will not improve anything without doing anything at the opposite end.......profoundly simple really.Amazing how many muppets will do something at either end and quote the most amazing figures..I to live in Oamaru have have fucked around with an ECU adjuster for years with varied results.
