Bike shop in Auckland for older bikes?

Hi guys, I've got a 1971 Honda CB 125 that just needs a couple things doing to it for a warrant. Maybe some wiring, headset bearing etc. Finding it hard to find a shop willing to work on it being an older bike and just wondering if anyone has any ideas on who would help out. I've been in contact with Kingsland Honda but have been waiting over 2 months and they seem too busy.
I am wanting to Cafe Racer the bike and keen to find someone who knows what they're doing!
I'm in central Auckland but don't mind travelling for the right place.

    Thanks!

    Jonny

I'd think he would. He's currently got several bikes in his workshop whose owners were basically told to "piss off" by other bike shops due to the age of their bikes. Although there's also a fairly new machine whose owner was given short shrift by the importers who decided they couldn't be bothered supporting it anymore!
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

Ricky at Haldane's used to do the old bikes. Don't know if he is still there.

Might also be worth giving Wild West Honda a call as they have been great to me.

I once took an "older" bike to Henderson Motorcycles, where they did very good work.
They have since won "The Stranger" award for service excellence, so might be worth a visit?

Don't bother trying Mt Eden Motorcycles. After having both my "older" bikes serviced there for years I was told last year that they wouldn't look at the 1989 CB-1 any longer, and only grudgingly agreed to service the 1999 XJR. Since then I've been dealing with Red Baron. No complaints other than the fact that it's a bloody long way to walk back into town. Mt Eden used to be so convenient (I could have a pint or two at Galbraiths while waiting...).

This has been discussed on KB before. A search should reveal all.

The mechanics don't like old machinery because what at first appears to be simple too often turns out to be complicated. Easier (and safer) to say, "Thanks, but no thanks."

Don't hold it against them. It really is their call.

Yeah, he's got some pretty cool stuff there, at least cool to me Love the Square Four he's got in the corner.

CB125? Bah, do the work yourself! Cafe racer, brilliant. Want to see pics as you progress

i went in there today and in their showroom they've got 3 vintage bikes from the early 1900's. talking 1910 - 1940 stuff here! kinda funny though cause they're all leaking oil all over the floor

i'd recommend giving wild west a go, they aren't too busy and i've had nothing short of great service from them, whereas both henderson and mt eden have screwed me or a friend several times (latest one was being charged for a service on a bike that was sent in for a new tyre, and they hadn't done the tyre! if i wanted to pay a couple of hundred for an oil/filter and sparkplug change it wouldn't be an issue, but that stuff i can do on my own anyway for a fraction of the cost to me!)

yeah, especially when you consider that many jobs that they are doing are simply jobs that we can't be bothered to do ourselves.

the two week wait in which the bike takes up floor space while waiting for parts probably doesn't appeal to them either
