How much traction will I lose?

got on the piss after riding at a mates the other night and trace wasn't there to pick me up so as the bike was leaning against the fence i thought it be good to smoke it up on the driveway.
i really rounded the knobblies.
i will turn the tire around today because that edge is prettt mint still.
but how much will i lose from having the braking edge rooted?
or will i be far better just getting another tire?

You will find if you turn the tire round and the edge is still square ish. It will be like having a new tire but is will not stay as square for long as a brand new tire would.
In other words same grip as a new tire but will not last as long, in the end it will wear down to the same level as the first edge.

What tire are you using?

lot of people turn the tire never done myself cant be arsed with the hassle they are usally rather rooted any way dont think you would get much more life out of it before you are going to have to change for a new one any way

Looks like mixed opinions aye. I haven't done it either but was talking to a mate of mine as mine are stuffed. Said I was gonna buy a new rear and he said flip it but it will make braking traction worse.

Who knows. give it a try and let us know what the outcome is.

reversed mine a little while ago.

I didn't really notice any breaking difference, altho I'd say the edge did wear quicker.

Unless you are trying to race Shayne King or Cody Cooper WTF.

Otherwise if you've got too much money just keep buying new tyres, or if you're like the rest of us just keep riding the bike until the tyre is properly worn. I've never bothered reversing a tyre in my long life.

I ride all the time on worn tires. Teaches throttle control and the use of momentum. Save the good tires for racing. A half worn tire offers quite good traction on the dry hard tracks over summer, sometimes a full knob tends to flex too much, and they round of in one ride anyway. Obviously in mud and slippery conditions more is needed.

I have noticed that my tires on the new bike (4 stroke), wear off the back of the noobs alot more then my old (2 stroke).
Get your bike out again and do another burn out with the video camera rolling.
Then go and treat your self to a new tire.
You Know you want to.

i think it comes down to the tyres on the new bike wont be getting dunlops again in a hurry 3 rides and not lookin good
