As for above, good call ...it depends... if it's a set of twisties you know, and you're sure of the conditions, you'll go quicker. If it's a new road or things are dicey, you slow down. Round town i aim for speed limit + 7-8 km/h Max.
I'm still setting the bike up (suzuki sell them thinking 40kg jockies will ride them, without accelerating or braking i reckon - shocking).![]()
Group rides tend you get you into uncomfortable stuff more often than not i find... the main difficulty (for me) is concentrating on the road and not so much the bike in front - who might have got it all wrong.

Depends whether I'm riding with others, and the reputed level of enforcement on a particular back road.
If I'm with a group who are riding faster than me then I'll open it up (up to 109km/h in a 100km/h zone of course), working on the 'first in line gets the fine' theory.
If I'm by myself then usually stick to 100ish as I don't find it a challenge going quick in a straight line.
Why heavens to Betsy...I'd never Dream of exceeding the posted speed limit!

I stay below 110kph with the occasional passing manouver taking me to 120-130.
The bike is geared for just under 160kph anyway.

it seemed FU@#$#ING fast.
Eltham Road is down hill to Opunake, after coming all the way from Auckland,I roll off the gas and it feels like the bike is just racing to Opunake on it's own accord, carrying me the last few km by itself.
I sit somewhere between 100 and 120 depending on bike and conditions - speeds above 120kph don't thrill me I'm afraid, all my fun is had in the twisties and on gravel,I was the same even when younger...born a doddery old fart.

Normally when I'm travelling I don't go much over 110km,ocasionally I might give it a bit of a wind up but no more than 150km and thats around back roads not main highways I'm very careful when and where I exceed the posted limits
I presume you mean the Eltham-Opunake Road? It isn't that downhill -- it's largely flat, apart from the dip over the Kapuni River. Eltham is about 300' above sea-level and Opunake township about 100'. The highest point on this road would be somewhere between Mangatoki and Kaponga -- probably about 700-750'. In fact most of the road from Mangatoki to Riverlea would be more than 450'.Originally Posted by Motu

90-120 any more than that the bugs hurt to much.
