Do you stop for people?

That explains why no-one stops to help me. But I always try to stop and help ,I once stopped on the motorway to help a guy on a zxr 250 or 400 ( I don`t know it was green )my mate came by 5mins later in his ute ,I stopped him ,we loaded the bike on and then delivered it to his doorstep.

Most of the time I stop, (especially if its a bike in need) heck... done a fuel run a couple of times... there is even a photo of me returning with fuel somewhere

Depends. Did they give me a wave on the bike earlier when i waved to them? If so i will, if not then .........
If i pull up on my Jap bike and they are riding an imperial/sae brand and look at me like "what the fuck would you know" look as i pull up i will keep going, (might just have the tool they need on board as well).
So really its up to how i feel. A smile and signal will go a long way towards getting you back on the road.

Ditto. I think that counts as a stop -- the intent is there. If I don't see them in time, or it's otherwise not safe for me to drop anchor, then they're out of luck. But I've turned round before today to see what I could do.

As others have said, it's do as you would be done by. I've stopped twice in the time I've been in Wellington, and someone else stopped to help me out just a few weeks back.

I came across some guy pushing a Norton along the side of SH1 south of ChCh last year, while I was driving the Odyssey. He stayed with his bike and I drove the 15 miles to the next gas station (that'd have been a *long* day for him) and when I got back there was a group of at least half a dozen bikers waiting with him.

Bless! I think they thought I'd nicked the guys $20 and high-tailed it to Sky City.

I will turn around if I am going the other way.

I have rebuilt clutches, cleaned carbies, repaired leaking petrol hoses, fixed broken chains, push started, got the petrol, fixed broken throttle cables etc.

If I was stuck I would like someone to stop who can help so I assume that everyone is the same. I care not if you have a patch or is dressed like a toothpaste tube. Why should I? You are on a bike and you have a problem. If I can help I will.

If you ride past you better keep on going...

stopped the other week for a guy who stalled a test bike at the lights and couldnt start it again, we stuffed around for a minute and it fired up, all good.

dam that test bike sounded good, was a VTR1000 with twin bros exhaust

Isn't part of being a biker the fact that other bikers are part of the 'brotherhood'? Why would you not stop?

I think the last time I stopped was for a guy that worked for one of the bike shops - the bike he was riding had broken down on the Shelley Bay off-ramp. All he needed was a phone to call the shop, but it would've been crappy having to push the bike up the hill, then walk to the gas station around the corner to use the phone. It was a very small thing to lend him my cellphone to make a call, and no real inconvenience to me.

But knowing how karma works, the next time I break down, I'll be waiting for weeks for help.

Absolutely, as long as they don't look too much like axe murderers and it's in daylight with plenty of people around...

I'd hate to think that someone wouldn't come to my assistance if I needed help.

I stop or at the very least slow down and check to see if everythings hunky-dory. Even done it for cagers (I used to do this when I was a cager anyhows!) But the reaction you get from cagers when you're a biker helping them is priceless!

Never know when you may need the help yourself one day
