    bikers relating to cagers

hey guys n gals .As a biker im suspicious of cages and their drivers.
But my job involves spending a lot of time behind the wheel of a cage.
I'n the last couple of weeks i've (as a cager) struck up or tried to stril=ke up conversations with a few bikers. Hmm --maybee its my BO but it seemed the bikers just weren't interested in talking.
Geez guys --especially riders of blue viffer800's Us cage drivers might just be bikers in another life

Have made a point in last few years of talking to or saying hi to all and sundry...even if only to see surprised look on their faces. Must admit tho since getting rid of my goaty beard and No 1 haircut heaps more people say hi. True.

Then again I was refueling at Shell Kaikoura the other day and following my advice and that of others I sat my helmet on the ground next to my bike. A 4x4 diesel was waiting for the next pump so being a nice guy I wheeled my bike forward, turned to grab my hemet as I heard a grinding noise. He was slowly driving forward draging it under his wagon.

I said, "WOULD YA MIND BACKING OFF MY HELMET MATE" He did so. I grabbed it and walked to my bike on the verge of erupting, making it very obvious to any one nearby that my $1000 helmet was fucted.

He never said a word or apologised and by the time I calmed down enough he was gone. May have been partly my fault but an apology would have been nice the WANKER.

small nick on top of helmet and grazed under chin piece but an insuance claim I think.

    Ya live and learn.

I always move over for bikers and most of the time get a wave.

Was out on the duc in the weekend and wave to other bikers and not all waved back. In days gone by every one waved. :spudwave:

If you in the BOP area and see a red and silver duc give me a :spudwave:

That really sux Krusti.. sincere for ya mate..

As for waving from cages, I have thought about that before. When I'm in the car, you have more time to look around etc, but when you're on the bike, you hardly/rarely see the person driving, thru a range of reasons, main two for me is a) glare - the sun/sky comes off the windshield and you can't see past that, and b) I see cars as objects most of the time, not cars, so anything else apart from a moving object is excess brain wastage, unless it's not busy, then I have a good look if I can and recognise the car. Even then, cos of point a), you hardly see who's behind the wheel..

And on top of that, if someone wants to chat when I'm sat at the lights, then 9 times out of 10, they're wanna be riders, or you hardly hear much thru your lid, or the lights just don't give you time.. I always say hi to everyone, but sometimes, there's just not enough time..

Good point tho, and know exactly what you're getting at..

Arrow My cage has KB & other biking stickers on the back.

Have sparked up some good conversations after they have asked my what I ride. However due to the fact that there are so many arseholes in cages, its no wonder some riders are weary of cagers.
Those who insist on perfect safety, don't have the balls to live in the real world.

Do sparrows relate to cats? Or sealion cubs to great whites?
Unless I know cagers personally, I regard them as trying to kill me. Even then I have my doubts.
Like the twat that didn't know how indicators work this morning, still don't know how I missed her.

    Well it wasn't me!!:spudwhat:
I haven't been out and about on my "blue honda viffer800" lately!

Would it help if I came and saw you, so I can redress the issue? Perhaps we could have a wee chat, or I can buy you a coffee?

In the meantime, here's some friendliness: :spudwave:
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Maybe it's your opening line Tony, what do you say to them?

I often approach bikers at the service station or whatever when/if I'm in my cage and usually start a conversation with a remark about their bike - "Hey man, you're bike is in serious need of a clean!"...not.

As a biker, when someone comes up to me out of the blue to have a chat about my bike I welcome it, even though I was taught from a young age not to talk to strangers!

I usually try to give as many bikers the waves on the highway, but not all of them actually wave back. Some do, some don't, some don't even see you.

When I am at the lights, most of the time it is usually a biker who I will have a chat with. Most people in cages don't seem interested.

When I am in the cage (with the KB sticker on the back) give me a :spudwave: :spudwave: :spudwave: ..

If the people in the cage are bikers / bike fans, they will be staring at you the whole time, which I often just give a wave. Especially kids.

I have to say that bikes whizz by cages so fast that sometimes, I don't even have the time to look or wave.

I'm mindful when I have to drive a cage that the bikes I wave to probably can't see me through the window until it's too late to acknowledge me anyway. I notice it's difficult under a lot of driving conditions to see the occupants of a cage. I wave to bikes when I'm walking to and from work and seldom get a wave back - maybe their focus is on what else is on the road and they don't notice me. The guy with the black Nazi helmet and patched jacket sure saw me this morning - nearly fell off his bike in surprise that some dude waved to him friendly-like. Didn't wave back tho'.
    Motorbike Camping for the win!
