    Hypothetical question

A bit of wider feed back would be good.

If you got done for +135km/h and got a fine for $400 and 50 demerits, would you sell your bike?

    Just curious?

My advice, pay the fine, take the points, pull your head in for a bit...(3)

I'd just pay the fine, accept the points and pull your head in for a bit.
You certainly can't afford to lose any more demerit points.
    Shit....i learn't!!

    Why would you?

Cant control my *you are little shits, and my bike goes faster than your dumb cage* twist of the wrist?

Right time, right place, enough demerits to play, that kind of thing.

Been there done that brought a radar detector, sorry thats a "Safety Warning Device", cheaper than a fine and the upside is that the kids get to eat each week

Hypothetically speaking I would never venture to even try that crazy speed ,but if I was to and caught No I would`nt sell my bike . I`d tell your friend to look at it as a learning curve and slow down , hypothetically of course.

    No.

    Not a big deal.
How many people haven't done that speed on the open road at some point, especially on these new fang-dangled machines. (apart from GN riders .)

I would guess the majority of us are trying to keep the speed in check when we ride.

How fast is the Auckland motorway traffic on a Sunday night ? Must have been average 120km/hr, with a heap more passing faster than that, when I was heading up North at about 6pm.

For your info there is a proposal in the pipeline re fines/demerits etc

The idea will be to reduce the fines on speeding tickets and increase demerits

The numbers given to me are

    1 to 19 km/h over speed limit $50 fine, 25 demerit points

    20 to 29 km/h over speed limit $100 fine 50 demerit points

    30 to 50 km/h over speed limit $150 fine 75 demerit points

Seatbelt and Red light tickets. amongst others will carry demerits whereas currently they don't.

Currently if you breach your learner licence you are given a ticket for $400 and 25 demerits, the new proposal is to give you a fine and demerits but you will also receive a notice warning you not to breach your learner licence within three months, otherwise your car/bike gets impounded

To this I say 'bravo' because some people get a learners and think they can drive as they fucken well please. I know of many Harley riders who are on learner and restricted licences, you guys better book your restricted soon methinks, not sure what you'll do the test on though...

I have heard tell of excessive GN speeds reaching 120+kph, that up hill with a head wind they go shit loads faster I am sure

I'm sure I'd cop a ton of shit at home but it wouldn't make me get rid of the bike.
And on the GN tops speed - mine is at the redline at an indicated 120kph.

Depending on the situation that be be plenty fast enough to get into trouble
