Just wondering if people could recommend some pants suitable for adv riding and be useful for road (ie with armour/padding) and also be light and breathable to use off road too.

Swear by leather myself.

If leather pants are out of your price range, consider the standard cordura road pants. I have used a pair plain black Mobig ones for a season, and they handled dust, dirt, rain quite well. They can zip up over your boots to provide extra rain protection, can handle the usual tumbles, and are about $150.
Padded in the knees/hip/bum area.
I'm still looking for a plain pair of leather pants that will fit over Adv boots. Big Dave was wearing some in a photo in KR mag on a Buell in Aus. That style would be ideal.

Or these? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-132913080.htm
Or the ones from Quasimoto? http://www.quasimoto.co.nz/products/?product_id=15
At least the Quasimoto ones will be the genuine thing.

Wanna stay in Kawhia? Have I got the bach for youPM me for details
if you go for cordura kind of pants then choose some that you can remove the waterproof liner from otherwise you'll sweet in them just as much as any other.
I use leather at the moment, have been for many years, use a overpant or boot gator if i want to keep the water out of me boots.
Got a cordura jacket which i like except the bit where even with thermal liner out and vents open it still gets wet from sweet because its so called waterproof breathable membrame isn't removable and they just don't breath enough to keep you cool.

Unless you are wearing stubbies I think anyway you go you will end up with jockitch when you start throwning your bike round. Ive got a pair of those dryrider rallycross pants which have a removable liner, which if removed are not too bad. They are designed as an enduro or adventure pant, a bit of padding in them, and reletively tough in a skid (my partner had a slide in them).
+1 For the Dririder Rally cross pant
I have had my pair for 18 months
They are good when its hot (with the wet weather liner removed)
In wet weather they are 90% waterproof, you crutch gets a bit damp in heavy rain
In really cold weather I wear thermals, because the wet weather liner gets cold against your skin
They have some armour in the knees and a bit of padding in the hips
Cheers
Dusty Butt 1000km - We knocked the bugger off what next?
I wear my progrip motor x type pants, dont let too much wind or water in, dry quickly andhave some padding. They take the falls off road well.. i test them ALL the time
If i am not intending to do too much hard off road then cordura pants it is!
