All The Gear All The Time?

Many of you will know me as an ATGATT kind of gal.

I have seen many threads here with people saying it is personal choice/you MUST wear it and what have you. Bear in mind I am not talking about moving your bike away from pumps at a servo, or riding it in the garage after a ride, or any of those other times you ride. What I am talking about is RIDING your bike out and about.

All The Gear All The Time (this includes kevlar jeans for summer, and other non leather safety covering etc) or not?

When around town, whatever is comfortable But always atleast jeans and proper shoes. Been known to wear singlets on hot days.

Out of town jacket, jeans and decent shoes are the min.

    In a perfect world, ATGATT

However, in the same world there would be no cigarettes causing cancer, no booze killing bikers due to pissed drivers, and no fat chicks on beaches during daylight hours.

Each to their own, we can only educate and advise... personally, I started out as an ATGATT biker, however I now feel comfortable enough with my riding ability to wear jeans to and from work, and on shorter rides.

    *shrug*

We shouldn't persecute people for not complying with what we perceive as ideal, though I am led to believe this is starting to happen... sad really.

For me its a combo, if I pop up to the shop 200mtrs up the road (and in town 50km zone) it might be shirt & Jeans & solid shoes & Lid though that might be the half helmet if its a hot summers day, or even around the block to dry her out after a wash..
but otherwise 98% of the time its atgatt.

Every year when I go to the USA for trade shows I see bikers (sprot bikes included) out riding in T shirts, shorts, jandals, no gloves and no helmets. Nuts. Just makes me shudder.
I crashed the weekend before last at about 70 ks (certainly no more) and had I been riding with say jeans and shirt and open faced helmet (and it was certainly hot enough to do so) I would now be missing a large part of my jaw, would have a smashed kneecap, large amounts of gravel rash and probably both hands munted as well as the injuries I did sustain.
I was wearing good boots, leather pants and full zip around leather jacket, reasonable gloves and a full face helmet and while there is damage to my gear, the extent of damage to me is a broken scapula (admittedly would have happened gear or not) and grazes to two knuckles where stitching in my gloves failed.
    Easy answer....AOTGAOTT!!

When a mate shows up and offers you a quick spin round the block i find that a pair of slipons, stubbies, and a t-shirt are all good. And im not taking the piss.

Nothing like the wind in your hair, both on your head and on your legs, and lets not forget the blood and skin on the pavement if you stack it... but lets be honest, you'd be more worried about your mate kicking the shit out of you when you hand him back his messed up bike.

    I'm ATGATTATW (ATW=All The Way).

How others choose to ride is not my business - and I shall keep my thoughts to myself.

However, I might hassle my good friends about wearing unsuitable gear if we ride together. The reason for this is both that I'd hate to see them hurt and that I would hate to see them hurt!

You forgot the "your brain oozing down your forehead" part I think. Oh, and consider getting mates that have their priorities straight.

Always, no exceptions. Based on not making the same mistake twice.

I don't know who's quote it is, but it goes something like, "Intelligent people learn from other's mistakes"
