Lost In Hunua (whoopsee and I live here!!)

Well, I went out on my evening ride as ussual. (Ussually just a quick 30-60 min ride) I thought, hmmmmm, Ive never been up that road. So I toddled up UNKNOWN territory. Well about 3 - 4 rights lefts etc. I WAS LOST. I shouldnt say lost just in a unfamilar area. Well to cut a long story short I ended up going from Hunua into Ardmore, without going the ussual Gorge run. Newbie plus Unfamilar Roads, plus darkness creeping in. = Slightly lifted heart rate and slightly faster throttle setting. Its funny how roads you have been down in a car, look different on the bike. Oh and just incase anyone is heading out this way, be careful, they have done some road works out this way, the roads in places have fresh tarseal and metal on them, some of side roads off the main road into Hunua also have fresh seal, this has lead to some loose metal carried onto the main road in places. So take it a little easy.

Was it sky view road by any chance? Changes to Monument road about half way along. Makes for a nice 30 minute loop from Papakura --> Clevedon --> Hunua --> back via the gorge. Best thing is you can always go one way round which will have little traffic to contend with. Just depends on the time of day as too which way is your best option.

I like cruising around Hunua,Ararimu,Bombay, ect ect.
I find a new road every time I go out there.

Sounds like this is the route taken. I often do this loop the other way round, then head out to Kawakawa Bay, Kaiaua, SH22 then back up Hunua Road to Papakura. Just out of interest, how many KBrs live out Papakura Way - starting to see a few more bikes on the road now weather is getting warmer.

yeah, that goes into Quarry Road, takes you onto the Papakura MotoX (old Yam track) and then onto Papakura-Clevedon Road. Quarry Road is a bit toooo tight for big bikes but ok for a cruise. There are many a good road all around Clevedo/Hunua/Bombay that make for good half hour blasts.
