Incident Type: Police pursuit

Police Pursuit:
At about 8.30pm on 7/12/07 Police observed a motor cyclist traveling at high speed on the Old West Coast Rd, Canterbury. They initiated a pursuit but lost sight of the vehicle. A short time later the motor cyclist has driven past another patrol, still traveling at high speed. The patrol has turned to pursue the vehicle but it was some distance ahead. A short time later the motor cyclist has lost control at the intersection of the Old West Coast Rd and State Highway 73 and crashed. Police did not witness the crash but came across it a short time later. The male driver was taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time but are not believed to be life threatening.
