Talking What a rad day for a ride - where'd you go?

Wow! that was a great day for a ride. Woke up to blue skies, texted Discotex and got up to start the day.

About an hour later, after drooling over the new CBR, we're on the road leaving my place heading up 16 to old north road. A nice run up to Kaukapakapa where we stop for "breakfast" (a chocolate bar) then up the hill to the scenic lookout to take some pics of bikes and stretch the legs. I gave DT the camera and ended p with a heap of pictures of his bike and 2 of mine. Oh well, his bike is sexier than the hornet, but not by much.

After our little rest we headed up to Wellsford then down to Warkworth and out to Snells Beach for lunch with the family. A little handy work on the bach and some food later and we're back on the road ready to see what happens.

Gas in Warkworth where we see 2 seagulls taken out by a car in the main street, 20 metres later someone tres to take us out by backing out of a carpark with looking and then someone tries to turn into us over the top of a traffic island. Fuck this main hghway stuff we're off down Woodcocks to see if it really does link back to 16 as I remembered.

Woodcocks road is amazing - no tightening corners, just perfect tight, windy corners back to back all the way to 16. It sucks in a car but is a dream on the bike. Come out north of Kaukapakapa again and head south until the turnoff to Albany via old albany hwy, which is really straight and fast but slow as hell at 100km/h all the way. Wave goodbye to Discotex at Lonely Track Road and then head home via the new North-West motorway, pretty nice for a motorway if I do say so myself.

Then home at last, my legs are aching but other than that i'm still buzzing.

    Thanks DT, it was rad.

So, where did you ride today?

Got to see some of the local scenery - was aiming for Balclutha but got as far as Papatowai before I ran out of time and had to turn back.

Took a chick out for her first ever ride on a bike. She ended up being a bloody good pillion rider too.
Short blat over the Haywards, Coffee at Pauatahanui & then over the Paikakriki Hill and then home.
I dont do a lot of riding with pillions and I forgot just how much they can effect the bike.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.

Grrr. All I got to do was move my bike from one side of the garage to the other. The rest of the day was involved in one way or another moving my daughter out of our house and into her rental house. It's not all bad though. I'm naked as I type this . Haven't been able to do that for a year or two!

Went to Kaiaua with a non-KB mate and back and actually enjoyed it (for once). Watched the Uni club's bin-fest before heading up to the fish and chip shop. Met up with Spank, then rode back to Auckland at a sedate pace. Stopped just before Manurewa to tell my mate how to get back to the motorway, and noticed Spank's bike pissing coolant all over the front wheel.
Quick call to Gixser, and he turns up with a trailer, takes it back to his place and patches up the radiator with knead-it. Good one mate.

Great day, great ride and great company.

Went down to Rotorua via Tahuna with Harry the Barstard. Awesome weather, great roads, not much traffic. Almost managed to keep up through the twistys. Got to try out my new throttlemeister for some no hands action on the motorway. Haven't tried standing on the tank yet, but it's on the to do list. Definitely appreciated the bomb-shelter quality of the fairing on the way home yesterday. Harry on the hornet got mildly moist
