    Thumbs up X-mas parade

Was part of the Napier Xmas parade with work today, so did not have the opportunity to see the floats with my kids (my kids also in ours).

But after, when I was walking around, I did see the Napier Scooter Boys ready to go home (or where ever they go on a Sunday).

Good on them for being part of the parade!

Did not see any bike clubs/groups. Is it not cool to be in a Xmas parade when on a bike? I have done it. And the spectators always love it! There is nothing like a few burn outs to get the crowd going. And what an opportunity for the ones of us who have a need to do a slow wheelie or two...

I wondered the same when I went to this years Auckland City parade - where are the bikes? Aren't we welcome? Or is it that we wouldn't behave...

Maybe a job for the cruisers among us. More bling, and no chance of rogue wheelies or stoppies scaring the kids... and some of the Goldwings (and even a 109) have onboard sound systems that could play some cheesy christmas carols...

Tinsel IS considered safety gear. It keeps away flies.

there was a bunch in the invercargill one... BUT they had it the same time as teretonga, so im betting not many out of towners went. i wanted to, but the races were more important.

    Because nobody organised it?
After organising our midweek rides, our Saturday rides and being heavily involved in the Cheesecutter campaign, I couldn't be bothered....what did you do towards it?

Don't take it personally!! It was a general observation that there was no bike groups. I do not anymore belong to any group/club (and I was part of my works setup as I am supposedly in charge...). Where was the speedway riders? The dirt bike riders? Motocross? Trials? Road Racers? Classic Club? Any of the HB clubs?

But you do bring up a good point: The organising of this is not that tricky, so perhaps something worth considering for next year?

you dont have to be in a group. just ring around some friends, get em together, throw some decorations on top and away you go!

Agree. But the idea re the Xmas parade is that local businesses/community groups sort of show them self of to the public at the parade.
