For those of us, who are literary souls, then break out your wallets and purses, surf those moths, and grab a copy of this book.

Mike's a Kiwi from Christchurch who goes anticlockwise around Australia and records his memoirs and presents it in this great book.

His anecdotes are hysterical at times, and we have all been there at some of the things he describes, and me for one, am attached by the heart strings to my bike, so catch his drift on comments he makes.

So, either, buy someone this book for Christmas, or sod it even better buy it for yourselves, I promise you, you will laugh out loud when you read it.

Its a very visual book and you feel as if you are on the ride with him.

Hope to meet the guy at a rally in the near future, so if I get wind of him heading to one, I'll let you know so you can grab your copy and get him to sign it for a keepsake.

Anyway on the topic of Christmas, again I shall say I am off to Millers Flat for the Rodeo and touch down at the campsite on 22nd December, so any other orphans want to join me, look out for the Millers Flat Christmas Thread.

Nearly in the middle of the week and boy does that feel good.

Feeling forlourn though as there is another month till the first rally of 08 at Waikia...........

I tend to agree.
The writer's style is quite entertaining, even rather funny in places. However, having read the book, I couldn't work out why he bothered doing the trip. It's not like he took time to have a look around. He pretty much went for it and circumnavigated Oz in as short a time as reasonably possible.
For me, it was a bit like the Rusty Nuts Grand Challenge, but on a larger scale.
It seems like he rode 17,000 km just for the sake of riding 17,000 km and I personally still don't see the point.
As the man said - each to his own.

I really enjoyed it, mainly due to his entertaining style of writing and various people he came across. If you're looking for his deepest thoughts or what really drove him, I agree that you won't find it between the pages. It did portray the vastness of Australia well. I'd still recommend it though.

Yeh I really enjoyed the writing style and the comedy but I felt the same, he tended to find things to see then skip on past them.. all he saw was road kill and truck stops!

I am just over half way through and am enjoying his banter. Its not the way I would do the trip but is amusing especially his description of characters. It is just really about the travelling rather than the places he travelled.

Woo, thats evoked a bit of a mixed response eh, guess its what life's all about though, everyone is different.

Being a total bikey chick, who literally misses her Bonneveille when not polishing or admiring it, I still laughed my socks off at sections of the book, and he rang my bell, as I love meeting up with folk and seeing what makes them tick.

You can tell by his pictures, that this guy is funny as, and I for one, will be rushing out and buying his next book on his antics around USA.

Wanna read another travel book? well its about a chick who takes her elderely pussy cat around America when he is on his last legs, and its one for the missus to read "I claudias:, cant find the book at the mo, as just moved (AGAIN!) but its a cracker of a read.

Fab to unwind reading a book though eh, what do you recommend as a good read?

Couldn't agree more. A top read about a bollocks ride. I hope he does the Us trip.
