nsr cylinder screwed! what to do??

Hey PPL,

I'm currently looking for a cylinder for my nsr though if i'm not successful pretty soon it'll be forced to get my gauged one fixed, I'm after your thoughts on whats the better option provided I was to get my gauged one fixed, Get it fixed in NZ by a place that can only fix the bore with a cast type metal which will in therory make the bike run hotter than normal or send it to Australia to electrosil to get it plated with the proper metal Honda used called nicolsil (i'm not sure on spelling.) which would make it as new but is alot more expensive! Your ideas and knowledge would be much appriciated

P.S I've also looked into the tyga performance 300cc upgrade though is to expensive for me as this time!!

Can you get a aftermarket sleeve kit for it like is avail for mx bikes. Then just bore cylinder, press in sleeve.

it would be sort of the same effect as the first option I imagine. The reason they use nicolsil is because it disperses heat better than anyother option. The nsr also has ports that would need to still be operational and I guess the sleeve would have to be specific to an NSR and as far as i'm aware they unforntunitly don't exsist

Available new (apparently) from these dudes. $AUD853.84.

Attempts to salvage plated two stroke barrels have a patchy success rate at best.

That Australian crowd has very mixed reports. You may have better success sending it to the UK. Even then it's cross fingers and hope that the plating stays where it is supposed to be.

Thanks Dude, I've checked out a few new options but for now i think its abit much to afford as I have many things I have to direct priority of my money unfortunity

Im not a mechanic
but ive always understood if the bore is plated or chromed its fucked

yep we had it priced and it was like 1500 bucks or something and is like a month or so wait,

i seized well and truley at 160 kms, ruined the sleeve , its more realistic to buy a 300cc tyga top end with all new parts, parts are cheap so rebuilding the 300cc is cheaper,
