When they have been left out everything is stuffed.Cables and all. Never mind you will have the summer to work on it and you will have time to set-up a fire place in the garage for the winter
Could be a long job

The font tyre on it is worth more what I'm paying for the thing thank goodness. The rear one has plenty of life too, so will go on the CB550 before it's next WOF. No cracking at all. Might even be able to convert the ol CB to ComstarsOriginally Posted by Gixxer 4 ever
The reg/rectifier can go on the Gasaxe if needed (common fix). I was surprised to see the engine turns over ok. Worst comes to worst the scrap metal merchant will be getting a visit, so I wont loose out really.

Keep us posted with the restoration process, it's great to watch an old bike come back to life.
This thing may only be a wrecker I'm afraid. Now if it was a 400T (had one back around 1980) it may have had a chanceOriginally Posted by カワサキキド

You made an offer on WHAT! Mate they should have paid you to take it away. The old 250/400s were nice looking bikes, but I can only assume that this was a moment of temporary insanity.Originally Posted by Bonez

. Turns out the guy had a brand new lefthand muffler for it as well. I'll curtainly recover the princely wee sum I paid for thing.
Had to attack the chain with CRC and remove the front caliper to wheel the thing off the trailer. Here's a pick of the corroded beasty moss and all. What's that old Honda advertising slogan again? Oh, yes that's right-"You meet the nicest people on a Honda"

if you don't mind, how much did you pay for it?
Worse thing about them was they were the same weight as the 400,which was a heavy bike...the 250 sucked.

Yeah the GSX250 and Kz250 of the era was curtainly the better of the 4-stroke 250 twins than the Hondas and Yamahas (another downsized 400). I prefered the CB250RS single myself.Originally Posted by Motu
Sum pics of the engine after 2 years exposer to the Manawatu weather and the generous sized seat (designed for mercan buts maybe?: ). I know my 400, which I bought new, was very comfortable. I use the commute to Havelock North from Hobsonville almost every weekend-things one do for love. Being 6' tall and really only learning the ropes I needed a bike with a decent seat height (still learning I might add). Seemed to keep up with a mates 860 gt duke no problems in the twisty bits up to the Puhio Pub
Removed the plugs and it looks like the previous owner had the nouse to spay oil into the bores and kick the thing over (yes it has a kick start-remember those?) every now and again.
That engine has less corrosion than my old CBR!!!!Originally Posted by Bonez
