    fines. again.

sorry to post a stupid question. couldnt find anything in the search.

    Simply
    Ive got a $400 fine.
I want to pay it off over a couple months.
    Ive received my 'reminder notice'

as far as I am aware. I just need to wait until the second 28 days run out and I get sent another letter by the courts and I can fill out a form to apply to pay it off. Is this right? I dont want to get buttf'd in a few weeks.

    Cheers

A little birdie told me there were some instructions about paying off the fine on the back of the reminder notice? I think you should be able to arrange a suitable repayment structure without it going through the court system. Phone up the Police and ask them dude.

I had a $1k fine and I paid that off by instalment. Just call the ministry of justice and ask them. I just finished paying mine off in January.

Get in touch with the police infringement bureau in the first instance, the number is printed on the ticket. If you can't find the ticket then the numebr is listed in the phone book too.

Secondly contact the local court house and speak to the fines collection dept to arrange for a time payment.

Sucks mate. Best of luck, but yea it has to go through the courts and have court fines added on before you can pay it off

    Hey Pyro,
I worked as a fines collector for about 18 months, and I now work "behind the scenes" but still work in collections.
Basically you have 2 months while the fine is still with the issuing authority, once it has become overdue after those 2 months, the "infringement" is passed on to the courts, where EACH fine has $30 court costs added to it. You cannot usually make an arrangment to pay of your fines with the police. Once it has been passed with the court they will send out a NOF (notice of fine) then 30 day's later a FNOF (final . . . .) basically you need to contact the courts, which you can do by phoning the 0800 # and make an arrangement to pay your fines of. If you cant afford too much $$ a week, then ask them to do a "Statement of Means" over the phone, then all you need to do is make your living expenses slightly more than they are , and if ya lucky you could be granted a TTP arrangement at maybe $15-$20 wk, depending on how much you earn etc.
If you dont contact the courts within 30 day's of receiving your FNOF, they will then add $100 to EACH fine and can deduct str8 from your wages or benefit etc, or they could just issue a Warrant to Seize, sure you know the rest . . .
PM if you want any advice etc.

    Cheers mate. thats perfect.
I should be fine. I held off paying it because Im changing jobs and dont have a gauranteed income at the moment. I think that should be a good enuf reason other than that I should be able to pay it off over 2 months assuming I get me new job *GLEE*
