I can do respectable times on my prolite around Ruapuna & In the process are faster than a lot who get their Kneedown everywhere.....getting my head around trying to get me Knee down has probably slowed me down more than just trying to be smoove thru the corners or stopping lazy apexing. I only bother trying to get my knee down thru the infield sweeper 'cause its so long & I got time to think about the weather or poke me leg out searching for the deck & frankly it feels weird for ME.
I also used to scrape my pegs a lot more too....when I was slower. Then some good bugger pointed out here that the reason was the lazy apexing habit I'd gotten into & that I needed to square off corners more & spend less time cranked over. Im now several seconds quicker & rarely scrapping my pegs unless its a sweeper.

I Use It At The Track

I use the knee down method at the track as a lean angle indicator, i know alot of fast guys that dont do it too. But as i said motorcycling is a feeling when ya pushing it its nice ta know where your at hence using the knee as a indicator in a corner PLUS it feels amazing and im sure all you who dont or cant would love it.

For the record ...... Buellbabe theres no chance you would catch me on a road or track ride and im all over my bike, you would be left thinking im an idiot (i assume) and OMG my buell's slow. I think because ive always ridden like that now it seems unatural to sit still on my bike.

knee dow makes you faster? Why am I in 2nd place then????

For the record.. I think its about style and comfort. I have never had my knee hit a public road btw

(and really.. this is just a chance to show off a cool pic!)

to the OP- FYI boot down does not mean fast at all, it simply means bad foot position. Anyone can get their boot down without really trying if they use lazy foot positioning with the ball of foot hanging off peg.

Knee down on public road does not mean dangerous at all, you can get your knee down without being near to losing grip or a fast corner speed.

Check 5.45 for absolute proof you can get your knee down without turning fast.

    Jeepers is skidmark back????
Don't normally get into this shit but I can't stand these threads, all those guys looked like proper dicks!!
Only watched 1m30secs but the guy at 50secs in fuck me what a dork!
He looked like a monkey tryin to clamber back into the seat! LOL!!

Everyone I watched had their arse out and chest over the tank this is so old school things have moved so far on from this its not funny!! Its albow down these days only half a cheek off at all times.
Jeepers have a look at Choppa and the NZ F1 boys racing, then Rossy and co!

Then do a net search for Kieth Codes, "Twist of the Wrist 2" torrent, download it and watch that!

From the little I saw you can go faster round all those corners without even moving off at all and I ain't half the rider of most here especially the race boys!

PS I'm sure that had Buellbabe in fits! And I've never even met her. LOL!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

It's only a little mindless fun, nothing serious at all. Check out 5.45 you'll see what I mean, it's ridiculous!

I think I got to page 3 and gave up, I love how these threads turn into flames,

I never attempted to hang off my 250 when I had it, I got it round corners with my toe sliders scrapping the road, the 400 is a different story im higher up and have alot more room, weight and power to get me round the corner, Im not going to attempt to get my Knee down on the road, once I get it to the track then I will probably try my little heart out,
But I do position my body over the bike with me knee out.. I find it helps shift my weight to the one side and as freaky as it feels, I found I can take the same corner about 15 - 20km quicker then sitting on the bike without shifting to much of my weight, I also found I can dip into the corners alot later.
As crazy as it is I feel a hell of alot more confident but at the same time shitting myself hanging off the side of the bike like a mexican on a US fishing trawler.

So I believe shifting your weight does improve your cornering control, as for the whole knee down thing, IMO its just someone's Ego booster if its off the track.

Its not about getting knee down but you do need to transfer your body weight into the corners more which will improve cornering speed.

I have never had a knee down but i have had to take my foot off the peg for it to fold up to get more lean.

You also don't want to transfer weight to the inside peg at the same time because that increases the chance on the rear end sliding.
