    Good vibrations (well maybe not)

    Hi all,

Got my restricted on Thursday and finally made it on to the open road to let her rip. Problem is I seem to have quite a bit of vibration in the front around the 80k mark - friggin distracting at 100k. The bike is six months old so these types of speeds are new for me and him.

Is this normal or not? And if not what could be the cause? I'm riding a Yamaha XV250 - Virago.

Have a biggish trip coming up so I want to be sure.

    Cheers

Could be normal engine vibration in that rev range, but more likely your front ( possibly both ) wheels, needs re-balancing.

Theres like - erm - 10,000 things it 'could' be...

Start narrowing it down. Wind the bike out in a lower gear to 80kph, does it still vibe then or vibe earlier, ie is the vibe engine speed (revs) related or road speed related....

Wheel ballance, tyre pressure, fork oil.... You name it...

So - what condition are the tyres in? (start simple)

Thanks guys. The tyres are in good condition and I'll check out the vib at different stages. Also, I have a mate who is going to take it for a test run this arvo to see what he thinks but I'm guessing I'll be calling the mechanic tomorrow.

    Thanks again
