you mean without getting your shoulder down at the same time?
have no chiken lines on your back tyer?
road riding you will always have chicken strips. Either than or make sure your insurance is well up to date.

It sounds like you are suggesting that you need to be a good rider to get on a track. Its like saying "When I am good enough I will start practicing". Taupo is not far from the naki and Manfield is only a little further. The whole scrapeing everything on the tarmac is not my thing. I prefer to get round corners without scrapeing stuff. Go to a trackday and you will learn heaps about your riding and your bike. But forget about dragging your knee or getting rid of your chicken strips. If you are that concerned about what others think of your riding then you will fall off.

Who cares if you have or haven't... all this talk of getting knee down is so much wank factor... especially on public roads... (Its as bad as the dyno thing say my bike pulls X number HP more than yours... wank/toss) I don't even try to put knee down I happily keep up with all those that say they do. As for chicken strips again who really cares, on the road is a good idea to have something in reserve for that oh fuck arse clenching moment..

you asked about when is is right to go to a track... you already know.

My Honda Hornet pulls 250hp rear wheel - proven on a dyno and I had to have my knees replaced in hospital as I wore the bastards out on the tarmac, if I push it now they spark due to the titanium replacements.

True story. Its just a mates Hornet parked in my shed with chicken strips on both sides, as mine is getting fitted with a super charger as I feel 250hp is for pussies and I am looking at at least 300 with the charger.

My personal friend Rossi just gets his knees down on a good day and apparently he is rated as a OK rider.

I pull wheelies around roundabouts as I find standing up high allows me to see over the cars in front of me and if the bastards get in the way i just hop over them trail style.

I have discovered that on a naked Hornet you need to be doing at least 350 kph before your helmet starts to lift, and I only wear one due to my receding hairline (a result of very high speed without a helmet no doubt).

I used to ride naked but found it hurt too much when my dwanger touched the chain (thought about changing to a belt drive but tried riding with a hard-on instead - however I found this obscured my vision).

Incidentally I get 92mpg out of my Hornet when thrashing it.

Tyra Banks keeps bugging me on the phone for a date and my wife is getting pissed with her. I asked 7 of 9 (Google her) to tell Tyra to piss off but she is not happy with me living with my wife and would not make the call. Chicks!

Man and all you are worried about is getting a knee down

obviously swapped the honda motor out for a kawasaki to get that kind of power.

What Nighthawk said.I haven't tried to get my knee down as my pants aint got no sliders so it could be a little painful.Concentrate on cornering smoothly and the rest will come naturally( thats how I got my pegs down i.e. wasn't trying ).Try force it and you will probably see your ass.

What, did you forget your glasses, he said 250hp, not 25hp

I first had a knee down after 12 months of riding when I slid over a bank on a gravel road. Not reccomended. 37 years riding and racing, and I've never had a knee touch the ground while I've been still on the bike.

Yes, I have had more than a few tyres with no chicken strips left. Also not recommended as that means I have been riding with no safety margin.

I first scraped a peg without falling off on Levels in 1972, 2 years after I started riding. The first time I scraped any part of the bike while road riding was the stand on a GT380 in 1973. That was very easy as they would scrape well before running out of tyre.

Now, a question for you BES, what is your fascination with trying to kill yourself? All of these questions are about pushing the limits well beyond safe riding.

It takes a couple seconds to bend down and kneel on the ground to check the oil
