That sux Scott. If they knew you had ridden for hours to get there, they should of given much better service. Especially since you had booked early, and explained your situation.
Give Mike a call at Ham m/cycles. They are friendly, and professional and coffee is always there.
Their mechanics are very, very good, and I'm sure Heath and the crew will see you right. All this means, is Triumph NZ need to keep an eye on their new Welly franchise.

Regarding Motorad - Bad Service, for those of us round Welly it's stating the obvious a little. It's also a considerable bummer that they now have the Triumph dealership.

    Yes. It is.

Is MD's BMW still in the shop? I wonder what they want for it?

Actually, a little birdie told me that Triumph New Zealand are probably the worst distributor in NZ to deal with, so the union sounds like a match made in heaven really.

had the same bad service at motorad in welly, my bike got knocked over by a young fella who was real good about it, i took it in got a quote to fix the broken bits, lever, bar end, front fender.

young fulla pays the money to the store and drops me off a dozen beer, all good.

take bike in to get repaired.

go to get bike, hang on you guys havent replaced the bar end thats messed up?

Answer: "when the job was quoted the person that did it got the price wrong so there wasnt enough money in what was paid to replace that as well, you can pay the extra if you want but we wouldnt worry about it, you hardly even notice, but we will credit you the $50 left over"

    WTF!!!

i cant exactly go back to the young fella and ask for the rest of the cash cos i think that sux.

as for the barend, you can hardly see it but thats not the point, im not going to waste my time and energy fighting them for it either, i just tell everyone my story.

i do go back there for a browse but il never buy, il go up the road and give some one else the $$$

The "free coffee" thing is a bit lame. Long gone are the days when a brew of instant in a skimpy plastic cup counted for anything. Like Skelstar, I don't go to a motorcycle shop when in need of a java hit, and don't have "hot beverages provided?" on my list of criteria for what comprises good service. I do, however, value open and proactive discussion about what is feasible in the time available and attention to the customer's list of things to do, which seems to be Motorad's failure in this instance.

That place needs a bigger workshop. Trying to run the workshop for a multifranchise dealership in the heart of a major city out of a broom cupboard is a bit unrealistic, unless they're waiting on a Time Lord to install an imprint from Rassilon Imprimatur.

It was not about the coffee, is what the fact that I was a new customer, I rode for 4 hours to get there, it was raining, we were wet, they told me to park it on the footpath and that the parking nazis should be ok!!!
They didnt even offer us somewhere to get out of the rain to get changed

So what I mean about the coffee is service.

I thought it would of been something like this

    Hi there
Come in out of the rain, we will take care of your bike.
Do you want somewhere to get out of your wet clothes, and maybe a coffee (that I would of said no to anyway)
Go over the things I wanted done and confirm them back to make sure they had everything.

Exactly, you walk into Wellington Motorcycles, and regardless of why you are there, Crasher is offering you a tea or coffee, Mike behind the counter has got a smile and a friendly word, asking what they can do for you today.
It's about making you feel that you are important to them.

Thats what keeps you coming back.

Shit yes. When knowing nothing about workshops it seemed quite reasonable to me. But they you look at/consider the number of bikes they have just ... sorta ... knocking around and you can see what a shitfight it must be. Likewise you can see how much must be necessary when you see the half acre out the back of TSS.

You've gotta feel sorry for the people working there. Doesn't mean they're going to sell me a new bike though. Or fix the existing one.

It is not about the coffee it is about meeting the needs of the target market (biker). If that biker is cold and wet then he may need a coffee or a towl to dry his face a bit maby? Who knows, every person is different, they have different needs and if the company is to stay trading then those needs need ot be met.

that really is crap. My wife wont let me shop at motorad, don’t know why but she hates the place. ive kind of got use to the idea that most bike shops will only offer mediocre service. If you don’t know exactly what you want your in the “too hard basket”. im willing to travel anywhere in nz when I buy my next bike. From what ive heard theres a good shop in New Plymouth so that will be my first stop.
I hate the idea of giving 15 – 18k to an arsehole just because its convenient, id much rather it goes to a good bugger.
