There is only one way, and that is the french way, my dear! It isn't called "french kissing" for nothing, you know...

Btw, Miss Fireball...are you emotionally attached to your bike? I'm just asking as it is part of my problem on the "trading up" subject.

I still miss my Zeal, but let's face it, you gotta keep looking forward. Once you've ridden a proper bike, you'll remember your two fiddy fondly, but you won't want to go back to it.

Hmmmm...reminds me of my first boyfriend...

The thing is though, I really struggle to "judge" my own capabilities as a rider, and I always said I would only upgrade if I was skilled enough and had actually outgrown my 250...bit of a catch 22 really

Bah, I'm sure I'll get there, eventually...no hurry really!

    Nonsense, madame!

    Do what I did.

Flog the two fiddy, stay off bikes for a couple of years, then buy a GSX-R750 and highside it three weeks later.

Sounds like a plan, however I am pretty sure I haven't yet...I've got my first track day coming up on the 23rd. That should go a long way towards getting me to grow in the direction of being a better rider...

Thanks, but I will leave the bionic body parts to you my friend. I may be a slow learner, but I like to do it proper like, as in falling is not an option.

You're sure to make plenty of mistakes whilst spannering... would you rather make them on this bike, or the next (presumably more expensive) one..? Just another perspective..

Everyone goes through that stage with their 250. Just bite it back and handle the jandal. Your time will come soon enough.

For shits and giggles, you could try knocking all the baffling out of your exhaust. It's amazing how much noise you can make with a quarter-litre of combustion chamber.

GZ, hmm, thats a GN engine yeah? Drill out the rivets holding in the baffle, buy some pop rivets to put it back in for WOF's. Should breathe a bit better, jet the carb, modify the airbox (hacksaw), whip off the head and use a hardened grind stone to grind out the ports (probably should get someone that knows what there doing for this bit), while the engine is apart, yank out the bore and piston. Get polishing, go through the sand paper ranges till you can see your pretty cruiser riding face in the bore and on the side of the piston (warning, you WILL pull funny faces in your piston cause it makes your face look all stretched out) re-assemble everything. Oh, oops, jet the carb at the end.

If its an old engine you should flush it. Drain oil, put in kerosene, crank engine over (DONT fucken rev it), kerosene-turnover-repeat till kerosene comes out clear. Feed it castrol GTX 20-50

Put on a quarter throw throttle kit.

Buy a pit bike turbo off trademe, bolt that bitch on there, get some custom pipes made up or just have a dump pipe coming off the turbo.

Get rid of everything you dont need, Big arse headlight? dont need it, replace with small arse headlight. Battery? starter motor? nah, replace battery with a big arse capacitor, you will have to roll start your bike but hey, it will be lighter...

Or you could just wait till you get your full and then buy a bigger bike...

oh yeah, i was taking the piss btw :P

The GZ's go fine, if you want to mod it i would just do stuff for comfort. Gel seat and different bars, always been a fan of drag bars, you could try them.

is it worth moding as its only a 250.... could i possibly put a bigger engine in it?

and what can i do to it?
wouldnt mind getting a new pipe for a louder purr safety reasons of course! hear me before you see me
If I were you I wouldn't bother modding your 250, 250's are there as a temporary measure, everyone wants to get a bigger bike, its just how it is. Modding a 250 is a waste of time personally, as they generally tend to change ownership more often than any other CC of bike, although I could be horrendously fucking wrong (I could care less).

So no, don't mod it, save your money and either:
A: use it on a bigger bike or
B: get some better riding gear (If you need it)

    my 2 cents
