02/03 SV650s vs 96 CBR600f

Opinions please
Will be doing a fair bit of touring in europe over the next year hopefully and looking at whether its worth trading in the CBR for an SVs.
The main driving force behind this is the insurance cost to keep the CBR (extra £400ish) and the fact that it is getting a bit old and tired.

cant really afford to go any newer more expensive than 02/03 ...

any ideas?
