Grit in Waimakariri Gorge 31 Jan

Came home this way fom Chch tonight, looking forward to a quick blat down the terraces. Had to rush to beat a ute just before the start and, bugger me, all the corners were full of grit - hot weather and wet tar I suppose. So the guy in the ute must have been pissing himself, up my backside as I crept around the corners...
I may have missed it in my rush to be first into the bends, but I didn't see any sign...

Still the same in these 2 spots, but the rain has made the Courseway muddier (Last Sited 3/02/06)

As for the detour 3-4Km North of Parakao on the Mangakahia Rd, it's still fu*ked with clay having been softened by the rain we have had this week. Recommend to avoid doing Mangakahia Rd Until this is fixed. Have map here of an alturnitive route if you just have to go this way posted here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/at...6&d=1138734397 ).

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

    Pa Valley Rd

Runs between Pahiatua-Alfredton Rd, and Alfredton-Pongaroa Rd.

Watch out for a halmetre high pyramid rising out of the road at the start of the hill ascent when running Pahiatua end to Alfredton End.

    Alfredton to Masterton.

Several wheel eating potholes have been fixed in the last week. Watch out for debris on the road from trucks transporting firewood.

ararimu rd-gelling(from ramarama to hunua back road). they are diggin up the roadsides. also on the backroad halfway between hunua & clevedon they are digging up the verges, so watch out the roads are dirty/dusty with NO runoff.
    ..it's another red light nightmare..

    Maraetai Coast Road

They have resealed from Maraetai township the whole coastal road, and down the long straight after it heading towards Clevedon. Lots of gravel tonight, OK to ride on unless there is opposing traffic and you have to ride on the cambered portion.
