Not really worried about the paint its when my front tire (or tyre) goes sideways. Once that goes the bike goes. Well anyway you saved me from comming up on this unaware (or worse, in the dark) so thanks again.

Just a quick heads up to all KB's

Transit have changed thier line marking setup for intersections!!!
and get this, it means less paint on the road!!!

now transit will paint a single 300mm header line (instead of 2 x 200mm header lines)
and have symbols (like a triangle for give way) instead of huge letters.

this officailly comes into affect from the end of this month (feb) but there have been a few intersections that have been painted the new way early (such as the twin round a bouts in Te Awamutu)

but please notw that the old paint markings will be left to come off over time rather than being water blasted off so it will pay to keep an eye out for a while longer yet.

    Cheers

this will probably be a problem for the whole summer, when they re sealed that part of the hill the used the wrong bitumen!! so unless they rip it all up and start again or burn it off, but that an't gonna happen , =>greenies.

so they will be spreading very small (effective size 0.5 > 2.5mm) metal down to create traction for the trucks and cages.

so by all means, come down to the waipa or king country districts and ride our beautiful rural roads free of dodgy roads and road taxers

    SH5

May be a bit late for weekend riders, but SH5 over the Mamakus, heaps of road works, including about 3kms of new seal, just east of Fitzgearld Glade as you climb the hill, then intermitinat(sp) patchs of repairs to the summit and down the other side.

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

a friden of mine came up to the hog nationals last weekend through there and he said that it was fine. so you should be sweet as long as you keen in mind that the road will be a bit dirty and there maybe still some drop outs along the route.

    Happy motoring

    H'WAY 22 Update from Saturday 19 Feb

Did a run on 22 on Saturday, just after Naike where you can turn towards Huntly/Rotongaro on the corner they have loose chip on the south bound lane (of course no signage), there is also two large piles of chip on the way down so they are obviously planning to do a bit more in the short term.
Hopefully the 7-8 turkeys have also gone that were there on Saturday as that could of been a rather messy situation.
Might pay to be aware for a while while those piles of chip are around.

Even though I am not from the NI.

There is alot of Roadworks on the road out to Castel Point from Masterton. Doesnt look like a fun ride

    24/02/05:
Kaukapakapa (KKK) SH16 to Wellsford: There is a new seal and unmarked centre line with pea metal just before the look-out (coming from the KKK end).

Otaika Valley Rd: Still metal lurky around the center line on that 40KPH corner. Bloody Trucks and Cagers cut the corner, throwing verge metal onto the apex

Mangakahia Rd just South of Parakao: Bloody samething happening here as on the the Otaika Valley Rd

came thru 22 on sunday and the 7-8 turkeys are still there, actually I saw 3 groups of 7-8 turkeys some of which were largish slippery smears that makes front wheels wash out. The peasoup supplied by local council is slowly getting swept off the road. No-one told me there would be dear on the road, at 2 different places. I'm just glad the last one of the 2nd group looked both ways before crossing. Would'nt like your chances of walking away after hitting one of them. Be careful of idiots in cages as well. followed a boy racer in his flash celica a few weeks back and he was fast (my quess is he was on about 140 alot of the time, pukekawa end). He also used both sides of the road on blind corners to maintain his racing line. We backed off, there was noway to go around him and I think niether one of us wanted to be there to shovel him and some family into a plastic bag. Idiots use 22 2. Be carefull.

Looks like they are about to rip into my home road again (Mangakahia Road). Just my luck as they started last Sat and I had organise a ride using part of that road that day. It appears to just be patch repairs and mainly from Titoki through to Parakao. It is sign-posted @ the moment. I'll update this as soon as I work out where they have put it all.

hi there , not sure if this has been posted or not ,,, the road is state highway16 heading from kaukapakapa to wellsford ,, went up on monday evening ,, the tight twisty stuff just before the look out they have resealed and left all the marbles/stones around ,, shouldn't take too much traffic to wash it all away but take care
