    SHway 30.

those of you thinking of rideing SHW30 this weekend, major re metaling 11ks west of Bennydale and also east, a number of places, most sections about 1-2 kms long, all pea metal., were signs out yesterday, but you never know how long they will leave them out.

Mangakahia Rd South of Parakao: Only some pea-metal now.

Mangakahia Rd North of Parakao: Just rechecked this morning. New sealing with heaps of Pea-metal, but is signed 30KPM "New Seal".

Have just notice that there is fair bit of metal that has been dragged from Kirikopuni Rd (metal) onto the north bound lane of Mangakahia Rd just pass the old Parakao school (on top of the hill).

PS: There goes my WE. Having to rebook todays horses for Sun due to the rain

    West of Waitomo

For those thinking of travelling from Waitomo to Piripiri or TeAnga on the TeAnga rd, theres about 11 kms of new seal just west of Waitomo, all pea metal, very few signs out.

After that its all clear to Kawhia.

Just a quick note for peeps not from the country, its heading into hay making season, lots of tractors and trucks pulling out of fields, please be careful.

Mangakahia Rd South of Parakao: Only pea-metal around the centre line and verges.

Probably better going via Mangakahia now than by the SH1, as I've been told there is roadworks around Kawakawa.

PS: I can remember reading in one of the Motor Bike Traders that a Transport Poly was going to set up a Ph No. for road uses to call to addvise Land Transport of road conditions. Does anyone know if that went ahead?

2/12: SH1 just outside Rai Valley Township, reasealing the roads along the hills, well
signed but still a fair amount of gravel and dirt on the road, I wouldnt reccomend
    fast riding through there.
2/12: Queen Charlotte drive, Beautiful road with some nice twists and turns but they
have gone ahead and started reasealing corners and laying gravel along most of
the road. Some of it is signposted but the rest isnt, I dont recommend riding
through there for a week or so till they are finished

just a quick warning of major road works on SH3 and SH30

north Te Kuiti Township, will start early 2005. best advice is to dodge TK by the way of Mangarino RD (just south of Waitomo Caves turn off on your LHS)

multiple (about 4) areas throughout SH30 between barryville and Te kuiti, ranging from about 200 to 800 meters long.

if you want to get really keen i can tell you the actual locations and start dates (provisional). cause i work for the company who's doing it.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.

Drive to torangi, week nights (truck driver) nows the time for road works as the councles use up there funding for the year. any thing major and accidents are listed (keept well up to date) on http://www.aaroadwatch.co.nz/index.html
if you have to use #1 watch the top of the passing lane befor tokoroa (heading Sth) and just outside the speed limit sth of tauronga-taupo

Mangakahia Rd North of Parakao: Still a bit of Pea-metal, signs are down.
    Otiaka Valley: Little change

SH1 Between Hukerenui and Towai: Major patch repairs of road being done over 1Km section.
SH1 Between Towai and Kawakawa: Road Work over a 2-3Km stretch of road varying from Freash tar and pea metal to Medium-Course metal.
I don't use SH1 North of Whangarei much at all, so could someone who uses this section regularly update this?

not my department, but i do regularly ask them to do it. (local council dont like spending money on roads very much)
we have wicked roads in the waitomo but the trucks drag a lot of metal from the shoulders onto the road so i try and get them to sweep me a couple of roads for the way back home!
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.
