Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
RiderInBlack - thanks heaps from the WIMA girls for your information about these roads. We had a great time in the weekend, and there were no road problems at all. Really nice roads to ride and great scenery!Originally Posted by RiderInBlack

DON'T RIDE LIKE YA STOLE IT, RIDE TO SURVIVE.
I heard on the police scanner that there was a desiel spill on the Rimutakas this afternoon.
Not sure where on the hill but take care.
I am not sure if this is a nationwide thing or not but all sights on our network that are shorter than 200m should have been finished by now, only the major capital works (like passing lane extentions) are going to carry on over christmas.
Our area is sh3 from New Plymouth to Hams, SH 4 te Kuiti to Taumarunui, SH30 Te Kuiti To Pureora Forest, SH31 (kawhia rd) and 39 from Otorohanga to Whatawhata and the waitomo caves road.
all of this should have finished by the 15th meaning sweept and line marked.
happy motoring![]()

Did anyone else get caught in the Jam going North over the bridge last night?
It was a bloody nightmare!!!
Traffic was backed up to the Onewa ramp because everyone was squeezed into two lanes to go over the bridge and squeezed again into one lane from the bottom of the bridge until the Fanshawe overpass. Bloody nuts!!!
Don't know if they're up to their antics again tonight. But I'm going to take the Waitakere round trip anyway for more of a ride :-)
The little 250 didn't take too kindly to the idea of idling up the bridge. By time I was at the crest she was setting records on her temperature gague, the bloke on the Harley who pottered over next to me reckoned his leg was just about BBQed and had to shut 'er down on the downhill.
We probably could have lane split but the fuzz was a few cars ahead and I wasn't quite sure whether they'd appreciate us eleviating the congestition by making ourselves scarce. Has anyone been pulled up for splitting? What are the fines penalties etc?
Nicked off at lunchtime yesterday and did the Hunua loop.
The 'scenic' route from Whitford to Clevedon had 2km of new seal laid over the hill yesterday - Slippery and loose as - I turned round at went the Maretai way cause it was still in progress.
Avoid it this weekend.
Update: Still some loose shite in the middle, but now smooth as.

The intersection from SH10 into Kerikeri is under a pile of gravel, so if anyone is coming up this way be careful. Plus the roadworks signs are always getting knocked over so you may have a sign lying on the road in front of you.
Too much of everything adds up to just enough
Just been down to Tauranga. Made the mistake of going vai SH27. Major tar and pea metal along the straights AK side of the Intersect with SH26. Stones flying everywhere. No fun at all. There was road works on the Tuaranga side of the Kaimai's as wellShould have gone via SH2. Could a Local KBer keep an update on these.

I was wondering what that was about ... sat up on the hill above the Onewa ramp, and looked down at the stopped traffic on the motorway at 8pm at night, and thought there had to be an accident somewhere, specially when the cops came south down the motorway, sirens on, hopped over the Onewa offramp, and back up the onramp to go back north ...Originally Posted by Naked Commuter
Going to Whangamata just as you start into the curves, the predictable one's up on the top are fine but when you drop down into the recently resealed belly the left hander on the climb out has lots of large-ish stones strewn all over it. Turns out the cages cut close to the bank but the seal has been stopped short of their track and the corner is chopping out. Must report this DANGEROUS error to Transit.Originally Posted by RiderInBlack
Today: H'way 27 is good, but Highway 1 should be avoided between Mercer and Te Kauwhata, poxy sticky loose stones like there's no tomorrow.
Reality is an illusion encouraged by consensus.
Rode 27 on Sunday 23rd. Still shithouse.Got me bike filthy! Works on the Kaimais were completed, thankfully. The 'new' expressway into Tauranga from Waihi direction is under major repair with one whole lane torn up but the remainig lane is still sealed, just a 30zone for a few hundred metres.Originally Posted by RiderInBlack
