    H/Way 22 closed today

Just a quick note people, will post pics tomorow when I get home from night shift, went for a ride today, and found 22 closed, about 2ks south of the Naike hall, just before you go down the twisty hill.the roads washed away, only 3 foot of road left.

Also Glen Murray- Rangariri has major slip over half the road few kays south of 22 turn off.

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

    update on 22 slips

only cause I care about you guys, I forced myself to back down 22 this afternoon to get the update for you people. so here it is.

Ok approx .7 kms from Naike Hall south bound the road is now completely closed, as contractors work to dig a foundation for new road, see pics. this section has road closed signs at Naike hall and the Glen murray Rangariri turn off to the North and the Herrington Rd turn off to the south.

it is unlikely that the road will be open for a couple of days(atleast).

still amazes me. Thanks for the update. Are they diging out around the hole and just realigning the road?
There more than one major slip?

yeah a bit of Both Kit, its going to the left a bit, to find a hard base, but the hole, more like major subsidence(sp)will have to be filled, but I guess they may lay Gabin baskets for that.

With your enduro skills I'm sure you could take some "side tracks" around it! Amazings holes btw. I wish I was there to witness them.

This is just in from our correspondant in SH22. F/F says "It looks all good here in SH22 and it is all open. Some sections are still single lanned however it's all well sign posted so it shouldn't effect anyone from going for a ride through SH22"

    Question How's SH30

Sweet Heading down to Taupo Sat, so might do the 22. Does anyone know how SH30 through Bennydale is (cause I like it over the SH1 when I go to Taupo)?

    Oil on Rosebank Rd

Heading from Ash St North, deep oil on road, took me more than 5 seconds to stop from 40Ks in a car during full lockup.

Just to let you jaffa's know.

just come back from driving the 22 in the cage myself. The holes are pretty impressive.

Word of caution to anyone heading down there - there is crap just everywhere, almost all off 22. There's unmarked road works and metal in parts, mud and crap in the middle.. This weather has brought the worst out in the road. So while it'd still be a fun road, just be real careful. I'm not gonna ride it until we've had some good dry weather for a while to dry off all that crap and let the cars and trucks clean it off - which is gonna take a while.. Just ride careful peeps..
