keep the wednesday nyt 6pm meet at bk the same bcoz a lot of riders do hear about it from word of mouth rather than forum. Maybe we culd jst ride to a slightly closer destination on the same route
The moon is lookin mighty out here in the country tonite. Lightless seems like some "Bright"Idea!!!!!
reminds of some idiot on a winters night pitch black, back country road out Templeton way... was walkin down the road and this mmmmmmmmmooooownnnnnnnnn goes flying past....(thats how it would sound right?) that is all we heard.... no lights no nuthin....scared the livin shit outa us
, (Missed hat shit to
)
hehehe
Didn ya see the flames shootin from the harris whilst changing down to miss that cow on the road!
Just looked outside and , wow , sure is a nice bright round moon out there,
So if you guys are leaving from the BK at 6.30, then It would be 7.30 by the time you got to Amberly.mmm
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
Bingo! This illustrates my point exactly. By not being flexible on occasion with the start place, you start to limit the destinations you can reasonably travel to and back from in an evening in directions which don't include the Port Hills (think speed required to get there and time of return home).
Remember that that the whole ethos of the ride is an evening cruise which is learner friendly so it's not a good thing IMHO to have to either hurry to get somewhere or rule out a good destination simply because it takes half an hour of riding time to clear the city from Moorehouse when travelling north.
Grow older but never grow up
Your point is very valid, but so is Transalpers. We have quite a few who show up by word of mouth and many others who don't check this thread because they already know where to go and when. We don't want to screw that up
OK. That's cool. As long as the option is recognised I'm happy with that.
Don't forget though ... 'flexibility is your friend'(but now that I think of it that could just as easily be ... 'Consistency is your friend' too.) Happy now? You've got me arguing with myself!
Speaking of rides north, Mrs Oakie are planning a sedate cruise to Kaikoura and back on Saturday so if anyone sees a couple of black Hondas wandering along at speeds that won't upset the constabulary, that'll be us.
Grow older but never grow up
Bugger not going to make it to night
I'm not picking my bike up till tomorrow dam dam.
Would of been a good run up there tonight, but never mind another time I guess. So have a good one everyone and maybe see you next Weds![]()
Your point is valid but here is a little thought to add to that if it takes 30 plus minutes to get out of the city and at that time of the day you are getting heavy traffic heading north as all the folks who live in Kaiapoi etc head home, heading north would be great if you live out that side if you coming from the southern side of the city it could be difficult to get to meeting point by 6:30.
Your suggestion of having another night to go north was great, what would be nice is if occasionally we could not plan a ride through the gorges or north on either a public holiday or weekend (I know not everyone has weekends I certainly don't)
I think this is the main thing now the ride has taken on a life of its own with folks turning up thanks to word of mouth.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.
so after all this
Is the ride tonight going north
is it leaving BK at 6.30
Is the expected destination point gretta valley taven
is the route via Weka Pass Waikari and the Scargill valley road to Gretta Pub?
If so I will see you all at Amberley War memorial at 7 30 tonight!
OK?
To be old and wise, first you must be young and stupid.
Whats your number? I can txt you when I find out the destination when I get to the ride.
Just incase no one pipes up here with the destination between now and then.
If sum of u want to change meet point and time start a new thread and for a different evening. Word of mouth is "wednesday nyts, bk moorhouse at 6pm". I better go fill up, and make sure sam on the zxr has enuf petrol too lol. c u at bk guys
Subike - yes to all of the above
Guess I wont be doing much txting tonight then.
See you at the Amberley War Memorial tonight then.
