Another nice ride over to Devauchelles wind was down which was good, can't say as I like going over there when it's blowing. The ride back in the blackness was interesting I was glad the ninja was in front of me so I could use there headlights as guide. Will there still be a Wednesday ride when Daylight Savings finish?
then it is simple... DONT ride in a group and if you dont trust yourself, DONT ride.
Agreed FL. There are slower and faster people on the ride, always will be, nothing you can do about it. AND there will always be people crashing, it is in the nature of riding or driving or just being on the road.
It is not that difficult to hang with the slower ones, but it seems a whole lot harder if the testosterone is flowing, which is always seems to do with the blokes... cant blame others for that!
I'm 40 now, been riding for about 15 years, hope to ride till I cant get on a bike. BUT I'm not going to curl up in a ball and hide myself away simply on the possibility that I might crash. Dont forget Ryan that 100s of people have minor offs all the time, with mostly bruises or a few broken bones to show for it. All we hear about is the really bad stuff expecially on KB.
I have crashed at the track, so I have an inkling of what it could be like. For the amount of KMs I do, i guess I have been both careful and lucky, and will simply carry on respecting the road, its users and its potential risks. thats all we can do.

Yup, from a bike that was a tractor to a bike that sounds like one. Mwahahaha
More to the point, I got a ride on HOT's Duc... Not quite my cup tea but I can see why you like it, and it sure is purty... and quick, not quite sure why you waved me past at the bottom of Dyers, you weren't holding me up or anything.
Nice ride guys, see yers next time.
Cheers

Sure, I left you behind, but was that in a built up area? Where the speed limit was 50km/h? No, it wasn't. It was going around the bays where the speed limit is 80km/h. Just because I left you behind, does not mean I was speeding or going fast. I know my way around that road, and I wasn't speeding.
Part of the reason I don't especially enjoy riding right at the back is that while I really don't like to exceed the speed limit (especially on pointless straights), I like to have a bit of fun on the corners, which means riding with some of the faster guys, or I have to pootle. But then, as soon as a straight comes up, it's "zoooom, zoooom, zooozoooom" as they all pass me. So I can either be towards the front and frustrated by the passing, or I can be towards the back, still get passed (and you know it happens), and be frustrated on the twisty bits. It's a bit of a no-win.
HTFU has nothing to do with it. Telling someone who has genuine concerns about an accident happening (I'm talking about anyone in the group crashing) to HTFU sounds incredibly short sighted and callous - why would you choose to ride with someone who thinks like that? You wouldn't. If you don't have anything nice to say, there is still no need to resort to the Kiwi Way™, and basically say "nothing to do with me, not my problem, his issue, HTFU.". You got to admit, it sounds cold rather than caring.
Edit: If you're more saying 'HTFU' to the speed/passing issue, and where to ride in the group, then refer to the above.
You can actually be supportive and encouraging rather than resorting to 'HTFU'. I'm not one of the plebs you see at your work (even tho I'm unemployed)
Happily, that isn't really an issue for me. You know I trust myself and my riding just fine. But you also know that a lot of accidents happen (and plenty have been posted) where it's almost totally out of your control. If some tard pulls out in front of you / cuts you off / plain doesn't see you / t-bones you / whatever in the wrong situation, it can be curtains.

I agree with you mate. I've been a bit frustrated with this as well. Personally I don't enjoy going at license loosing speeds on the public road - least of all on the boring flat and straight bits.
And it sucks getting passed by a squid who 2 corners late is going to be holding you back. It just does!
And yes, there's nothing cruisy about zooming out the straights at 170+ km/h (and it happens!). At the end of the day everyone rides their own ride and I'm afraid nothing can (or should for that matter) be done about that.
Regarding HTFU - my message was just that you shouldn't let anxiety inspired by graphic posts and video keep you from riding. However, you should be picky about who and where you choose to go riding. HTFU does indeed not make limbs grow back or resurrect fallen mates!

I wasn't referring to your PM, which was referring to something different. You were saying "keep riding, but HTFU and come to the track with us." IMO that's quite different to the reason Fireliv seems to have used. Sure, I may have misinterpreted her meaning in the way she used it, but it certainly came across the way I answered it.
Edit: Have re-read all the posts involved and decided I have misinterpreted it a little, so I've edited my post accordingly.

I went along for my first Wed nite ride. And loved it. it totally challenged me to go up a notch, or that's what it felt like.
I was impressed when someone had a problem, and everyone stopped n waited till it was fixed. On the return trip, my fuel light came on n I couldn't be f*(d turning back to Duvauchelle, so I cruised back to Halswell, THANKS to Martin, who kindly trailed behind me to make sure I wasn't stranded.
Anyone considering coming along... go for it! summer won't last forever.
thanks to whoever organises this.

Mate, you obviously have issues at the moment... My two cents worth: If you're that down about riding then simple... Don't do it! I don't see how winging on this site will help you or anyone else. Riding is ment to be fun and posts like yours will just bring people down or p*ss them off. I don't even understand why someone would put up a post like yours, are you just seeking attention or reassurance?
