Yes... specially when I am planning on taking my laundry on tour around the South Island.... but it does make the rear end a lot heavier.

Anyone know why they in the manual Givi advised that I should not exceed 120km/h with the boxes fitted?

Stability I guess, but they go 160-180 ok , attached to your fav m/c of course. If you don't intend to carry a pillion try a bring the bags as far fwd and as low as possible. Easy with universal mounting brackets, not so easy with brackets for made for your specific model. I found having a tank bag, with heavish items in, to bring weight fwd help a lot in the handling side when loaded up. Done around 100,000 kms with the setup on my Integra, have a top box too, with no major issues.

ermm tkns I have done bursts of 160 / 170kmh with them fitted as panniers on my private road In your option would you rather have 1 of those Givi boxes fitted as topbox and have a good size tank bag? or have 2 of those Givi boxes as panniers and have no tank bag? E.g for handling and etc... "maybe I can use my dammed Motomail seat bag as well... "

One thing that I do notice is that with 2 boxes fitted as panniers bike seems to be slower.... perhaps aerodynamic drag?

I'd have the two panniers, with any heavish items place at the bottem of them. Yep they are
extra drag. The seatbag puts weight to the rear though but further fwd than a topbox (having the weight fwd of the rear axle is a good idea if you can), lightening the front end therefore affecting handling. The seat bag can have light bulky kit in it such as sleeping bags, as an option if you decide to carry more gear if needed. 2 Givis and tankbag would be my personnal choice. Oh the choices hah? HTH. Oh almost forgot- keep an eye on the panniers when loaded to ensure they don't drop down onto the exhaust. We don't want the silk undies getting charred do we

I also note that GIVI advise a 10kg maximum per bag. I noticed that my GS1200SS did suffer a reduction in stability when I tried overloading the rear end. One overweight rider, one very slim wife, fully loaded panniers, 15kg strapped to the top plate, a full tank of gas and the total weight of the bike was 445kg. No wonder the Akaroa hill felt a bit different.

yea good point. For me would be a 80~85kg rider inc gear + pannier @ 3Kg each (6kg total) + things in them 20Kg = around 115Kg + Gas (17Kg) = 132Kg + 190Kg (Bike) = 322Kg ermm I am getting up there as well. Specially with 1/2 your engine size

Off the topic of sports bikes but hey what the heck, Ventura are at last doing pack racks for my WR250F now and I fitted it yesterday and then hung the bag off my VFR on it so it looks like this. You'll recognise the scene as top of Paekak Hill. Spotted Sparky Bills and his mate there.

Also finally fitted one to Mrs Merv's DR650SE too after WT had problems with the courier losing the first set of L brackets.

Whatever you guys think about how dorky they are we wouldn't go without them now, and how else would I take so many photos quickly if I can't just whip my camera out of the zip up bag.

Went to the Flying Fish for afternoon tea with my Bro' on his DR350 and me and Mrs Merv on the DR650. No other bikes there, yeah I know Lynda is out of town but where was everyone else?
