I first met him at Pukekohe in 2001 and he was about to do his first sidecar season and saw him take the NZ Sidecar title and beat us (easily) for the NZGP title that first year with Johnny riding, I used to catch up with him every time the sidecar season rolled around and at odd times during the year at different events
We ran into him and Johnny in the Grand at Wanganui on Christmas night and he joined us later part way through our meal for a bit of a chat, I talked to and raced against him the next day.
A genuinely nice guy and I'm sure going to miss him
Missing you heaps already mate. Gone well before your time but doing what you love.
You're full of knowledge and always keen to pass it on. One hell of a waste, a great friend, you will be missed by many. Condolences to family and friends.
I will miss your cheeky nature, and random visits, as well as your trademark skid down my driveway.
I was looking forward to catching up with you in the holidays for a ride.
I hope you've gone somewhere better.

At Wanganui Id organised for Brett to come up to Taupo to swing on the 'Busa for me, with Scrivy being too busy with organising the meeting to be able to ride.
I was sooo looking forward to having a talented swinger on the side to test my potential as a sidecar driver.
Was doing scrutineering for the meeting 8.30 am when i got the call, Have to say, ive never lost interest in what i was doing so fast.
The image of him coming over the railway lines & up toward the esses at Wanganui will be with me forever, Absolutely naturally talented, relaxed & making it look easy.
P.S The Wanganui Chronicle captured the moment perfectly, but by the time the paper came out he was gone.
R.I.P buddy & work neighbour.
Yes he was amazing! What a talented man...
I never knew there were so many tears in me! I keep on asking kick if its really Brett who died, and keep thinking its got to be someone else... denial is not a good thing I know! But for some reason I am not coming to grips with this... there was still way too much to do!
RIP
Thougts are with the family
