    Katana-art..

    Latest concept to come out....

This is made from 6mm satin-ice acrylic reversed-engraved and is 0.45 scale of the real beast.

    Blimey.

Do you use a machine to do that, or is it done by hand?

Reminds me of acid-etching PCBs for some reason.

Actually, the Kat wasn't done by myself but by my colleague who does the CNC'ing for me.
40 hours of CAD drawing went into it and 3 hours of CNC'ing.

This will be eventually turned into a clock made from aluminium and halved in scale (or any scale at a customer's request).
A wire-wheel version is on the cards also.

This is wholly done by Art-Cam and then CNC'ed on a CNC router-engraver.

That is blardy awesome mate, now ... I can see a Hornet being done like that and I can wire it up with Electric glow wire?

I think you may have a great idea there ...

Greetings Katman. I am the person who is working in with Nudemetals to create such masterpieces. I just thought I'd also make a point of mentioning that I (until very recently) was a Katana owner myself. Nudemetalz tells me you're the man that supplied him the reference pics that I used for the artwork. They worked a treat. I also used reference pics of my Katana for certain things too, like making sure the amount of cooling fins on the engine was right, and cooling slots in the brake disk etc What you see in the photo was an intial test of the artwork and ideally we'll be doing them reom alloy. Having said thatwe could also do this type of thing out of acrylic and illuminate them with LEDs. Over the next couple of months, I'll work on the LED illumination concept and if results come up trumps, I or Nudemetals will be sure to let people know and get some photos up just to wet appetites

What? Not the popup headlight model? Tsk tsk...

Seriously though, that's awesome! How much will the clocks be? Roman numerals? Could be keen for one... Keep me informed.

    Very nice!

It requires quite a bit of looking at, since there is a lot of detail in there!

    Hey katman
I'm now in the process of doing the wire wheel model. Any chance of you emailing me some nice close-up shots of your carb? (left hand side) I'll need as perfect side on profile as you can get.
If you can do that and email a pic or 2 to me, that'd be awesome. fire them through to antonyhoch@hotmail.com.

    Cheers
