I have read similar threads on other forums, but insert KTM in place of BMW.

All brands have their 'horror' stories, and their 'hero' stories too....which 1 anyone accepts is purely dependant on whereabouts on the fence they are currently perched!!!!

I don't think there are really any 'bad' bikes around, as a whole.....consumer pressure is too strong for that......just sometimes, someone produces what we used to call a 'lemon' or a 'xmas special'----- if we opened up a poll on it, every brand would get a mention no doubt!!!

I didn't just read about it.
I owned one of the overpriced, under-engineered GS latte-cruisers.
    Looks 10/10.
    Performance 4/10.

I am thrilled to say that mine is on order as we speak...thrilled I said.Period.

But, I am an adventurer after all.
Very exciting, when does it arrive, I hope you are getting the yellow one?

What price are they going for in New Zealand?

Does anyone know for sure if the new Yamaha is coming to New Zealand?

    If I thought I might like/respect you , I might give a shit.

For the black hole of 'we don't give a shit', my 1st and only Bm gets 10/10 for looks( in MY book), now also 10/10 for performance and reliability, the dealership also collect 10/10 for their efforts. Beats the best Suzuki could do hands down and FAR exceeds anything the putrid Milwarkee outlet in the waikato could even dream up!!!

.....but, I mean....a GS 1200? .....really!!!!!!, you could see "latte cruiser' all over it,before you bought it, or did you not take your shades off?( or, heaven forbid, was it a 650?).

Yes well most bike shops are a long way from Raetihi, and then they are full of farm bikes anyway, and one day my GN is going to be joined in the shed by something else....

    Ahem!
I have vague recollections of a Road Sofa......... went alongside the Side Table as I recall....... That would make the R your 2nd Beemer methinks.
But then if you were ashamed of the first one, well I could understand that. It certainly came nowhere near the one you have now in any performance respect.
Having said that, the build quality of both was superb - significantly ahead of my ST and I see no reason why a new GS would not follow in the same footsteps.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.

    My, my what a temper.
Most people wait 'till they meet me before calling me a cahnt...

I have ridden or tested all the current 1200's (GS, GSA & HP2) and previous GS 1150/1100 & 650 incarnations. Like most BM's - if the dealers gave a shit and if they were 2/3's of the price, I could own one (except the 650, I wouldn't even wish that on you).

Actually the V-Strom's are pretty reasonable adventure tourers (the little one recently cleaned up a Transalp in an Aussie Mag "across Australia" test) for the money so I suggest you actually ride one before judging.

As for "Milwarkee outlet" - you've lost me there. Have you a yearning for a Road King too?

I have never heard anybody refer to you as 'a can't.'
Everybody refers to you as 'that' can't.

FWIW - That HP2 Megamoto is one of the finest motorbicycles what I has ridden. Stunning machine.
