    Speed cameras acting illegally

I noticed a few weeks ago that the LTSA insisted that speed enforcement devices had to be operated overtly and not hidden.

Well today I noticed a speed camera operating in a covert capacity. Photo's are attached. If anyone was pinged by this camera then they have a good case for redress.

He was there on Saturday when I went passed at about 3pm....it wasn't until you were right on him that you saw the bugger.
Money Money Money Money....it's all about money. What I want to know is what is happening with all that "revenue" money cause there should be shitloads of it somewhere.

Those dirty olds... Perhaps it helps explain a 7B surplus, or a 6 M hospital for the Islands!
Where was he anyway - just curious? Also interesting to note that he is within sight of a speed limit sign...

You'd think they'd be happy with the speed camera down Ngauranga Gorge cause I read in the paper that one is in the top 5 earning speed cameras in NZ.

The camera was located at the bottom of the gorge between the SH1 and SH2 interchange.

That's crazy, I suppose their claim would be "it is a red van and that is easy to see."
I noticed Yesterday as I was going up through the gorge towards J-ville that fixed camera is in the box so if you're going south on SH1 make sure you get right down to the limit as you're going down the hill.

Look at it this way- in the old days travellers had to watch for lions in the bush, now it's just speed cameras - at least they don't eat you AND you CAN avoid them, just slow down

Shouldn't have to look out for them, they should be overt.

In the old days you could have shot the lion and mounted it's head on your wall as a trophy.

50m isn't that far, but is that still the guideline they have ?, cos as of april this year they started that "anywhere, anytime" campaign. Where they took down all the signs and are allowed to put the cameras anywhere..... I take it anywhere must really be anywhere ??

Never had a problem spotting them - never been snapped by them.

IF eventually I do get snapped then BFD, I'll just pay up and NOT go moaning on the KB site about how "not fair" it is 'cos I couldn't see the 'hidden' cameras!!

BTW how much DO you think you should be allowed to exceed the speed limit before you DO get a ticket??
