Are they supposed to write down bike regos if they speed past?

yes they are. they are also supposed to change the setting for trucks going past (this is a performance related issue - yes QUOTA - as the camera measures mass as well as speed).

they start too early in the morning for students to be up and about

yes it is a crap job. there are some ex-mot/sworn cops in there that are on $65k though, for doing feck all.

Wow - and the hard working front line cops taking all the abuse get what, about $10-15K less ? Thats pretty rank. Then again there is little equality in pay scales for different jobs.

it's a carry-over of their service. some of them are ex-mot since the 1960's! they can't be forced to retire, so they get low-impact positions. they just retain their salary. a new (non-sworn) camera operator though is on less than 1/2 that.

I thought the start rate was about 40k. Teachers and nurses get more nowadays I think.

Newly graduated cops are on about $42,000. While training they earn around $26 - $27,000.
