    Bad luck.
We drove home from family home along the same stretch of road, possibly the same night. Bel. XR radar detector saved us the same fate
Boys in blue have certainly been hammering the express way & all of Tga. lately & that bridge hideout sure is busy at nights!

I have no experience of NZ speeding (I've never been caught) and would be very interested to hear how you get on.

    Good luck.

I got pulled over about 3 times in a month, cos the cops were looking for someone that "fitted my description". This was many years ago when I was riding the trusty old Honda GB400. Would've liked to have known who they were actually after.

Only been done once for anything, got ticketed for lane-splitting, which I totally deserved as I someone managed not to notice the cop car which I passed, or the bike cop who was behind me somewhere. I wrote that one off as not-paying-enough-attention tax. Never been done speeding thankfully.

A quick google came up with nothing.

I'm not a 'boi' racer. I've been told off for labouring my bikes engine since I tend to keep revs low

I'm no lawyer but seeing as this is a public forum I imagine your public admission of guilt might make things difficult for a lawyer. The prosecutor could ask you to explain your KB post. Good luck.

While the original poster was a bit free with the details, I only know of one person reading KB who I believe may be a Police Prosecutor and Tauranga is a bit outside his area. It's not terribly likely that all the prosecuters in Enzed check all the posts on KB before they head to work each Court day.
The more paranoid among us may see that differently of course...

The lawyer isn't only there to get you off the charges. In my case I could hardly plead "not guilty" but I explained what happened, and the lawyer explained it to the judge in such a way that the judge let me keep my licence.

I have no idea what the lawyer said, I wasn't there. I was trying to earn enough money to pay his bloody bill, whatever it was it was worth every penny.

Is there any chance of an out because the officer recorded that it happened on SH2 but the section of road is officially called Tamatea Arikinui drive?

The other thing, is there somewhere I can look up the official speed limit for this bit of road because I know someone who got a small speeding ticket for exceeding 80kmh on this exact road and later received a refund because the official speed limit was actually 100kmh and the 80kmh signs were placed in error. This was 2002 though when the expressway was very new and I'd expect them to have sorted it out by now.

Yeah he probably could. I'm sure the prosecutors go over KB and every other internet forum looking for admissions of guilt. Even if they did, I didn't own up to much. Unless he's a moderator he wont know my real name.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you

Maybe if I confessed to murder or kiddie fucking it would be a different story

Tamatea Arikinui Drive is part of SH2 and falls under Transit NZ 'jurisdiction' as it services the port of Tauranga.
It is most definately an 80km/h zone.
You got done. Accept it and invest in a RD & slow down

Nobody has mentioned that if you have been chraged with 'exceeding posted limit etc.' then you can avoid going to court by pleading guilty by letter. The court costs are added to your fine. You basically have a super sized speeding ticket.

It is up to you to choose your fights but if you cop this one you will have your licence back in a few weeks. Then grovel, pay the money, get 50 bonus points and be back riding soon as.

Are you sure of that because I'm in the army and if I have to go to court the boss has to come with me and it will be a lot more trouble then its worth. What happens in the hopefully unlikely event that I am disqualified? Do they tell me that by letter?

You'll get a letter and/or a personal visit to collect your permission slip to legally operate a vehicle on public roads.

Don't sweat it too bad - just be honest with your CO and he prob won't care too much.
    It is what it is

It's what I did. Wrote in pleading guilty, with an explanation of why I was going quite so quickly... Didn't have to front up in court, didn't lose my licence (well, only for the 28 days from when I gave it to the cop). DID get a fine of around $500. That was for 160 in a 100, no traffic, dry, previous ticket was 15 years previous (for 180), and ticket(s) were just for exceeding 100. That was a couple of years ago now...

Dunno about if the court disqualifies you - you may get a letter asking you to turn in your licence, or you may get some bailiff type knock on the door asking for it. YMMV.
