I think this should be tested.

*nudgeZ* all owners of late model GSX-R750s and one-piece leather race suits

A one piece leather race suit with a hump certainly helps in getting a few extra kph on the speedo of a GSX1400, although the violent tankslapper that ensues at an indicated 235kph when one puts one's head on the triple clamp is... interesting.

Particularly when you squeezed past that 4WD at the traffic lights and whacked a great dent in her front bumper with your exhaust!

It's that sort of foolish carry-on that brings motorcycling into disrepute and cements the opinion of the majority against people on bikes.

I personally think that such behaviour is absolutely uncalled for and detracts from an otherwise great atmosphere. I'll never wave to or otherwise acknowledge such idiots on the road.

And as for the fellow riding in a T-shirt on the blue R1 and pulling wheelies down the street past my motel, all I can say is, it's time you realised, sir, that they're neither big nor clever.

You're just jealous that he's a real biker!

I have both of those items and I have seen 299 on the speedo, but at the time I was in jeans and a tee shirt

Meh, I never knew all the above was a prerequisite for wanting to join the Police.

So far all I have is the 'stache.

And the salary? I hear ya brother, not flash eh?

After all, I can barely can afford to pay for my two Harleys, my Suzuki, my '66 Thunderbird, my hot-rod F100, my 1400sqm section with 4 bedroom house, go to all the rallies etc I can AND still buy beer, times are tough alright...

    $50k?

I don't think so. That's new grad pay. Starting salary package is $53k.

After that it rapidly outstrips the other profession that used to maintain parity with the Police, Nursing.

Nah, 20+ years at the freezing works gave me a good start.

    Present salary just maintains it.

And Jim2, I don't know where your coming from but 10+ years later I'm not that far away from the 'starting slalary package' (which of course has nothing to do with what actually goes into your pocket from week-to-week).

And I'm one of those eligible for 'shift allowance' and 'on call allowance' etc, a desk-jockey in the dept won't be getting those.

Police web site. Cadet wage is $35K or so.

Nurses get $53k after about 15 years in the job.

We don't have cadets any more.

But when I went in Recruits got $26,000 salary for the 5 months training, came out on about $46,000 or so, the $35,000 sounds a good increase.

And a NCO was meant to be paid the equal to a Parliamentry back-benchers salary once (back in the 70's - what happened eh?)

Cadet, recruit, they're all n00bs who wouldn't know a decent wheelie in Wangavegas if it bit them on the left.... eyebrow.
