    MMMMM what next !!

A mate called in for a chat and a beer. He informs me that the the Speed detector bill went through parliament. And is now law. I think he said it will be enforced within the next month or so.

I guess you will see a lot of radar detectors on Trademe over the next few weeks. Makes you wonder what next the lawmakers are going to introduce.

If the Nat's or any other political party abolish this new law. They will get my vote.

A bloke hasn't got a fighting chance now. I guess it will double the revenue the cops collect for the government. I'm not into politics but I know one thing Labour has gone down in my estimation. Grrr I'm angry

They're simple enough to do stealth installs, will just be more cash on the side for those of us inclined in the way of wiring.

I would have thought that they would have to advertise that these things are not illegal .. the only place I have heard it is on this site ... they can not enforce something they don't tell you about.

    This is correct....:

However, the following is a correct quote as well.....

Radar detectors will become illegal, attracting fines and demerit points on an escalating scale in a three-year, phase-out plan. Those using detectors will initially face $50 fines and 25 demerit points, rising to $150 fines and 75 demerit points in the third year.
Transport Safety Minister Harry Duynhoven said he was prepared to withstand a potential backlash by those using detectors to lessen their chances of being caught.

    Be afraid, very afraid....Or VOTE..
Since the elected officials are supposed to represent us and are supposed to speak on our behalf...

I propose a new bill that when new bills get voted on, every well paid puppet needs to be:
    1. at least be bodily present
    2. pass a test first to prove he or she has at least heard off the bill, and preferably even understands part of it...
3.Passes a breathaliser test same as for roadusers!
(after all if it is dangerous to be in control of a motorvehicle, imagine how dangerous it is to be in control of a whole country while under the influence.....)

Happy New Year, and enjoy yourself while you still can, it may be made illegal soon....

Oh and put the radardetectores on trademe while you still can get rid of them....
Opinions are like arseholes: Everybody has got one, but that doesn't mean you got to air it in public all the time....

There is a saying that "ignorance of the law is no excuse".
However... they have done a good job of avoiding any form of public comment on this.
I feel an appointment with my MP coming on.

I really don't see an issue here, as I don't speed unless overtaking, and even then it is not by much. The people that have radar detectors are basically saying that they speed by the mere presence of a radar detector in or on their vehicle. I do not see the point of them if you don't speed.
If you are one of the ones that is pissed off by the law change then I have absolutely no sympathy for you, and you are better off not being on the road!

    Speed Kills, End of story!
