Anyone here owned or ridden an '07 GPX250?

In my search for a new bike, Kawasaki's current GPX250 has hove into my sights http://www.kawasakisa.co.za/details....products_id=80 and at a reduced price of $5995 brand new, why wouldn't it?. (Kawasaki have reduced the price as there's a new model out in a couple of months with changed bodywork.)
Problem is that the closest dealer to me in Christchurch with one is actually in Nelson (half an island away) which makes it a bit of a mission to take out for a spin. Even more so when that one is still at the old price of $6995 so I wouldn't be buying it anyway.
Sooooooo, if anyone here owns or has ridden one I'd appreciate any comments ... especially from someone my size (6ft). Cheers

The honeymoons over for me dude after owning two '07 gpx's in the period of 6 months but for 6k its a good price, dont forget that doesnt include ORC so add $275 for rego.

Yeah anyways, It's starting to get too small for me and I get blown around and occasionally moved across my lane on the motorway, the suspension is soft on both gpx's i've had. The only thing I like about it is that it's shiney and brand new and Kawasaki.

In other words, It wont handle like a race bike but then again you'd never get 1 brand new for 6k anyways, so if you can put up with it being so small it'd probably be allright

was thinking of getting one but then I saw Jessica and fell in love. Try a hyosung before you go for the gpx.

What, you're going to swap a CB400 Super Four for a frigging GPX250? Have you gone off your tit? What was wrong with the GS500?

    What he said!

    Gosh.

Yes, buy a GS500. Great bike. Ridden them. Love it. Perfect dirt-cheap bulletproof all-rounder that you can keep and thrash for years and years, not an underpowered, undersprung learner bike like the GPX250.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the comments. Just saw the nice shiny new bike for only $5995 and got all excited. The prospect of the GPX's 38hp compared to my 400's 49hp and the GS's 51hp will probably be the deciding factor.
Damn but it looks nice though!

You are right, having ridden one myself.

Your bike looks pretty blah blah.

    But.

Bikes arnt about being shiny and new when you are throwing it around on open road twisties.

    it's about the ride

but if you just wanna be a poser around town and pick up girls then sure...

and then have wank wank factor NINJA down the side.... because people who know nothing about bikes go "OMG it's a NINJA. Those are the fastest ones!!!"

    and it's like rightyo....

my old zxr had ninja down the side....pulled girls like mad cus it's a NINJA!!!!both my other ones...didn't say ninja...people would check it out and go oh.....it isn't a ninja. People are n00bs.

As much as i despise them ....i'd rather own a hyosung GT250R than a GPX....

I'm loyal to kawasaki. Thus i have a zxr.

The GPX is a sports styles commuter bike. It is not an open road go fast sportsbike. It's basically a Suzuki GN250 with fairings.

If you want something brand new for commuting and still be able to have a bit of a thrash on the open road go for the Hyosung GT250R, to be honest though the GT250R is gutless as shit though compared to a ZXR or CBR. I would suggest test riding both the ZXR250 and the CBR250. Personally i find the cbr horrible to ride....the riding positon for me is wrong....ZXR is perfect.

    It's personal preferance.

Yes the ZXR and CBR are both old bikes, but they are proper sportsbikes. For 6k you can get one hell of a mint ZXR or CBR.

Just my opinion, take what you like from it.

    I can't believe a GPX makes 38HP! Hyosung was only 27HP I think.

    Just buy a GS500.

Either way, make sure you ride them all first!

I'm guessing he means the GPX.

I've always thought that the GS500 was quite an elegant and purposeful-looking motorcycle.

Wait a few months till the new model comes

The reason our dealerships haven't got one in stock is the fact we have to actually buy them from Kawasaki as are all the Kawasaki bikes, unlike the other brands who just have them on spec till sold. If you definitely want one and confirm this we can have one within a couple of days.

I assembled and PD'd the last one we sold, and I'm 6'4" and didn't have any issues, then again I fold up into a ZXR

    Quoted for truth.

Looks like a bike which really shouldn't have fairings but they stuck it on there anyway.
