i just read that in the paper, and find it sadly amusing that his parents are trying to say hes the victim in all of this. to quote his step dad "He's too scared to have fun." least he has the opportuinity to go out and have fun, unlike the two girls involved, one of which will likely as not have a bad school year, due to having to start late, plus she will not be able to concentrate properly, and the other of which will never get the chance to complete her life.

this from his mother "The first three days were really hard to even put your head around it, but you know you have to put your head up. We can't do anything about it... you just can't put life on hold. We have a farm to run, we have a family to look after so we can't just stop it." "We have found out that they are really nice people. I was just trying to put across that there could be a whole lot of dislike and they are more than welcome to feel that for the rest of their lives," "He's a thoughtful, caring kid, and he's always thinking about other people.

wouldnt it be nice if this mother would stop trying to talk away what her son did, and made him take responsibility instead? obviously hes not very thoughtful, otherwise he would have thought about the what ifs before they became a reality.

    What an absolute twat,

Everything in that article shouts out the arrogance of these people. They're denying responsibility for what their son did 'who's too afraid to have fun'? I can only imagine what the Victim's family, the friend who was also injured, and all the other friends must be feeling like.

How can she even attempt to pass off that this kid's considerate when people had already tried to slow him down previously and he didn't change his attitude in the slightest.

I've been riding down Muriwai beach plenty of times and there's many place's that motocross rider's can go that are away from other beach go'ers. There's even a proper track that closed off to the public at a small fee.

Ofcourse this kid gives other riders a bad name, it may of been his actions that caused the accident but the public don't think of it in that way, it was a motorcross bike that killed the girl and therefore all biker's will get chased off the beach. He's put a major dent in rider's reputation.

I hope he gets what he deserves either through the legal system (That's gotta be *atleast* manslaughter) or his own guilt will teach him a lesson.

I wish a lot of the road riders on this site would read this thread and realise they have no right to have the attiude "I'll ride however the fuck I like and if you don't like it, get fucked". I've been banging my head against the wall for a while now.

If I ever hear of a road rider riding at night without lights through a pedestrian mall, then I'll back your statement 100%. Until then just keep on crying wolf.

Well how about rider's cutting into blind corners on the other side of the road?

    That enough for you?

Perhaps rider's doing wheelie's down the motorway which can always lead to the dreaded tank slapper.

You can't say that some road rider's think that they can't do whatever they want. Not all, or even most but then that also goes for dirt bikers.

Your lack of intelligence makes me wonder what criteria a moderator needs to meet. I have personally been within a hairs breadth of being killed by a wheel standing motorcyclist. There have been other examples of wheel stands actually leading to the death of members from this very site. Your flippancy comes across as downright disgusting.

Its not a practice I condone, but then again I don't see a lot of riders doing this either. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, as it certainly does. Refer to Dangerous comments of a couple of weeks ago.

You have it correct: some do act this way. Have you spoken to them about it?

Yes, there have been examples of dangerous practices, but some, not a lot. Few of which are as dangerous as riding at high speed at night without lights in an area frequented by children.

I was putting emphasis on the word some aswell, some Dirt Bikers do this. As do some Road Bikers. The impression I got from your prior post was that it's only Dirt Biker's that do this sort of thing is plainly not true.

Though I reckon that Dirt Biker's may ride differently because they don't believe they are riding on a road so they don't have to follow the road laws, but I don't think there's that much of a difference between Roadies and Dirters.

Wow... that's pretty strange. There's a clear-cut difference between rider's and non-riders. Very different perspectives and interesting to see.

Though ofcourse they're wrong and we're right

the problem with many tardme users, is they consider anyone not legally an adult to have a childs brain. like they are saying 'hes only 15" well, isnt 15 old enough to have a smidgen of common sense? just a drop? specially if hes been riding since he was 10. i think his parents need a good kick up the backside.

It sounds to me that alot of people on here are jumping on the bandwagon with all the other PC brigrade. Forget all the media hype and look at the facts that are available. A 15 year old kid goes to the beach at 8.30pm for a hoon on his bike, a tragic accident occurs and a girl dies. I'm sure half the dirt bike riders on here have done this at some stage and probably in a manor alot worse than this kid did, but because no accidents happened people are none the wiser.

Unfortunately vehicles and pedestrians don't mix and eventually no matter how safe you think you are being, accidents will occur.
