    Hope it's ok to bump this thread, just want to say

    Isn't it better to have motorbikes on the street than cars? More economical, less pollution, less stress on roads.

    The article said they're banning motorbikes that've been registered as well.

    Nobody has every accused the Chinese government of being rational.
    Probably some high-ranking official got a large bribe from a car company to ban motorcycles, corruption is the way the China works nowdays.
