    Motor out Again

Well what can I say . Blow 4Th gear on my T509 Monday night on a quick road round my back road's .Dropped motor out tonight & had a look at the damage not to bad ,will see what the Doctor say's when he get's motor split in half . 2 blow up's in 2 year's . I am going to buy a SP1 Honda once Triumph is back together . Sad to see it go but don't need a bike that cann't take my trashing with out breaking . The Jap's have all way's hold together that I have owned so unless I find a cheap Aprilia . SP1/2 maybe even an 05 will be my new toy . SENSEI

    Bad luck,How many KMs?
A friend of mine has 96 daytona 900 with 130,000kms & this guy rides hard,He also has a r1.He has had no probs & the new triumphs have a really good name for reliability. He does all the servicing himself & keeps on top of it.
Have you had yours from new?maybe the previous owner abused it.
Have you kept up with servicing?

Obviously you haven't set the cam timing on a Triumph twin - 99 turns till the marks line up again...oh yes, they knew about the hunting tooth before WWII at least!

You will have to tell us what you thought of the sp1 A friend of mine took one for a ride & really liked it.but he ended up buying a tl as the sp1 was out of his price range.
He said they drink gas like the tl but the standard suspenders were better than the tl.
Mind you I noticed a huge difference when I got rid of the rotary damper.
    cheers

Hi Sensei, hope you get things sorted one way or the other soon.

BTW, we had a great w/end in New Plymouth last w/end for the Long Track. Got a good deal on three tyres from NP M/cycles. (three Diablos for $750 - two rears and one front - including transportation to Wgtn!) Found the new shop (Image? on Eliot Street just down from McDonald's).

Got a surprise to see an empty section diagonally across from our motel - it's where Energy Honda used to be. Didn't get to find their new shop.

Gearboxes arent a weakness on Triumphs, are they?? I'm lookin at a 955 Daytona.Heard about g/box probs from a couple of guys now. Things like this could scare me away.
