Yes well that corner is just a dog. There's only one way to do it and that's slow as and around the left (outside) of it. Once you get past the apex, the rut isn't quite as deep, the bike is coming upright and it's ok to cross the tail of it.

It's just a bad bad lil number and I don't even try it maintain a pace (of any kind) through it.

That bend is good either way. I love it in the mornings coming out of Tawa. Always try to give the cages a wide berth in front as I come past the prison entrance. That way I can wind it up for the on ramp.
Coming down the off ramp from the North is also good. You just have to make sure nothing is coming up from Takapu Rd.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

Be very aware on that road: I was over there this morning about 10am,very little traffic then suddenly a furniture removal truck rounded a bend, driver with one arm resting out the window, ciggy in his hand and he was getting over to his side for no-one!
frequently has some large vehicles on it

Last night, the road was mint (no traffic), the weather was mint, everything was great... But I had one of my worst rides ever

I think I've ridden better off-road, when sliding on my arse

I'm fairly sure the last time I tried getting to Waiotauru Hut was more enjoyable and I spent most of that trip picking up my XG

At least I got out I spose, and the return trip wasn't as badly executed. Some pics from Pie Cock...

Never been there, looks mint. You just go to lake ferry and take Whangamoana road, Whatarangi road, Cape Palliser road?

That's the one, Whangaimoana Road. Sharp left on the road to Lake Ferry.

The road is in good condition, road works in one spot (signposted).

Some nice twisty stuff and some nice sweeping corners.

Oh and that pic with the trees, has spongy grass. Spongy grass is for the win.

    Slow fu vs no fu

I was really tired and riding like complete crap last night so slowed down. Rather slow fu than no fu.

Realised I'm not doing this hill enough lately. Each time feels like I'm learning it again.

My favourite corner is the 25k'er, going down towards Pauatahanui. Twisty fu.

Rounded a bend on return journey to find Mister HP patrolling Motorcycling sixth sense FTW.

It's back..."Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Yes, before one goes into the orifice. Take the blue pill next time and it might start to make sense
