GET ON
SIT DOWN

HANG ON
Ha ha! Now that's a test ride and a half. Thanks for that. If they were selling it for $1k less I might have even taken you up on that. As far as that other GS is concerned, while younger than mine, it has about as many ks on in so I wouldn't be gaining what I want.
I'm planning on ringing the dealer here where the '05 GS500 is to see if I can take it out for the weekend for a decent run.

If the Faired GS 500 at $7800 was around when I got my full license I would have got that over the GPX (suzukifest 1 month later, damn it). http://www.motorcycletrader.co.nz/Us...d=116744184715
I was always going to buy new so was limited because of that as well as wanting a faired bike - $6000 was reasonable for a new bike so I got it after test riding a few second hand bikes around a similar price but new were going to set me back 10000 +.
GPX has reasonable power for open road riding, but gets pushed around worse than the GN. The fairings work like a sail with a cross wind. GS 500f is bigger in all ways - wheels, motor, body size.
I am commuting from the top of the Coromandel to Hamilton at the moment and I don't have an issue with the suspension as some people, I actually find it makes for a smooth ride, would be an issue if you are pushing it hard though. Biggest problem with it is lack of torque at low revs, constant shifting is a pain in the arse and in fact I liked the GN better in the corners in some respects. GPX will do me till my Bro takes it off my hands in March then its on to something with a bit more torque and all round size.
