All those threads with tips, gear, preparation, tyre choice, maps etc... I did read quite a few, remembered some stuff from years ago....
But did it all wrong today, Sunny day so just riding a bit...No plan,no map, end up at the Okuku river..see a spot that looks ok to cross "just to see whats on the other side" was a bit deeper then I thought...Found that the "Bridgestone Trailwings" in the mud are as usefull as banana skn gloves in a mudwrestling competition .... Electric starter saves the day halfway submerged ,And oxford boots hold 2.1 liters of water each...
!60 kg dry for bike is at least double wet....
Dry off on Okuku pass/Lees valley, ...
Wife not impressed to have to come to whiterock with spare fuel.....
Thank god phone didnt get to wet...
Should have filled up in Rangiora...
All in all an eventfull little "adventure", having learned a lot....again...
