    Overpriced 250s...

Okay, we all know about the 250 market being terribly over priced, given that most are nearly 20 years old, but I think this one takes the cake as most over priced I've seen.

    Trademe Link here.

    How's $10,495 sound for a 1990 FZR250?!

Words fail me. Someone go 'deal to' that dealer...

Edit: Although the price now reads $5495 it did initially read $10,495, hence my post.

I think its the wrong price they've put on, since it says 'The original R1', and an fzr250 is far from that.

F**k I went in there to look to look for a 250 for Mrs Meanie and most of thier 250 range was around 5 to 6 grand So I promptly told them I could buy a brand new Kawasaki GPX for six thousand with a two year warranty

That's what's worse - I don't think there's any mistake in the price, just more sales hype. They know the R1 didn't come out until 1998... they're just trying to say this is the predecessor to the R1. Which it isn't, the FZR1000 is. Small bikes are trying to look like their bigger brothers, not the other way around! Besides, you can buy R1s off dealers for less than what they're asking! They're listed in the same page as that mighty FZR250.

I wonder how much that bike actually owes them? Can't be more than $1500 landed and complied etc. I wonder if they'd register it for you at over $10k, or if you'd still have to pay it over and above?

They've an R1 advertisted for the same money with the same description, probably just an honest mistake.

That makes more sense, even though that's still too much for a 20 year old 250 IMO. I was going to email the seller saying that about half his asking price might be more appropriate, but yeah.

Awfully convenient "misprint" though, if you ask me.

Why? They know that they could never sell that bike for that much, and they know it would've damaged their reputation by letting it slip. Misprints in advertising do happen, I know as I have spent over 10yrs advertising vehicles. Never forget the time I let an 3yr old XR8 Falcon be advertised for $3995!

um the trade me ad says 5495 asking price

so its tidy bike if you got it for say 5300

    Yes 250 are over priced
especially when you pay 5 or 6 k
and you can get a 750 of similar age at the same money or cheaper

    but hey
do u want to get a market like the car market
youll be selling 5 year old bikes and getting about 4k for them with like 20 000 km on the clock
yeah really cheap for everyone ,but trades will be shot
be happy the prices stay up ,its better in the long run
