    ZXR400 h1......'89 model

WELL....... I bought this bike last year for a tidy we sum. looked good....had a few dings and scratches on mirrors and muffler etc...nothing too dangerous looking...till I took the fairings off after riding it home from chch to blenheim. there the problems begin.....it had been dropped heavily on its right side at speed by the look of it. Fairings had been majorly repaired...as had most of the aluminium bolt on parts...everything had been repaired well...or so it seemed. After a bit of hard riding around nelson the right hand clip on snapped the retaining bolt at about 12.....um...100km/hr.....leaving me reaching for a brake lever the seemed to get further and further away. fast forward to now...I NEED A RIGHT HAND CLIP ON..any help greatfully accepted....but do you think i can find one....new ones are worth $2-250...but im too tight to pay that for it.
Also the muffler bracket mounting holes in the sub frame 'WERE' rivnuts fixed in the ally box section...they have slogged out the subframe and rooted it severly......hence...I need a new rear subframe.....I have searched high and low for the last 3 months....on the net...in person...and ringing round....no luck short of hacking the old subframe to bits and welding in a new section.
so...here i sit...wanting..nay...needing....to get these lil problems fixed.....
    HELP!!

Well that was a lucky break, or almost an unlucky one.

Looks like you might need to find some aftermarket clip ons, ask around the shops, Maybe F1 Engineering in Hamiltron?

Won't leave much change from new though, if any.

Find a good welder to fix the subframe.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Does the zxr400 have USD forks like the 250? if the top of you fork leg is 50mm in diameter, then you'll want these:

If I have read this right you have only broken the retaining bolt, that holds the
handle into the bracket,I have had this happen a couple of times on my race bike, just replace the bolt??
If you are going to keep the bike for a while buy the complete clip ons from trade me
I carry spare bolts & handle bars in my spares,I know how you feel,I could not figure out why I could not get full throttle, untill the complete handle came out
of its bracket, while in a race, finished the race, still got second or third or something, pulled into the pits & pulled the handle bar out, throttle, brake master cylinder everything to the amazement of my pit crew

yes well..my bad...if only it was just the bolt. When the guy before me who owned it layed it over, the ally clamp split along the handle housing and he had it welded up. This has since cracked allowing the handle to move which caused the bolt to break.....causeing a sphinchter clenching moment. Anyways...hopefully i get those clip on's from trade me.

Dude send Dougal a PM or maybee contact the current F3 champ who runs a bike shop down your way. Hes been racing zxr400's for so long he's probably got 4 or 5 bikes in his back shed

Those ZXRs get crashed all over the place. Shouldn't be hard to find some spares
