There is a certain inevitability about e-tec eventually making it into a bike. It's one step closer to geting our big 2 stroke bikes back. Just imagine one of these engines in a nice modern frame and a big fat powerband

Aprilla has had a Direct Injection 2 stroke scooter for ages now.
2001 or something i believe. (SR50 for the record google it)

Honda has made a similar direct injection engine but belives that there is no market for a big bore 2 stroke.
Ive been reading about it for last couple of weeks.

Basically all the direct injection system does is shove the petrol in to the top of cylinder, when the exhaust port is finally closed. Needs alot of pressure to shove enough petrol in there in time. - Appently it's more effiecent a carb'd 4 stroke and on par with a fuel inject 4 stroke, but not quite sure on these fact's.

Yeah I've been keeping an eye on the whole direct injection 2 stroke topic for years now. I'm like that old TV add ".... and somewhere a 2 stroke fan waits... and hopes.... that 2 strokes will come back"

It's all true. They are effiecient and low emission. Just a lot of negativity coming from a few places esp Honda.

But smelly, noisy and fun are the hallmarks of a true two smoker!

I dunno, but I can bet some tinkering will have them restored to their true glory and splendor and have the law spluttering in its cloud!
