Asking a viewing fee is ridiculous, there are some simple steps to preselect who views it. Easy to make a short list of key questions.

As far as test rides go the answer in most instances should be no until every other issue has been covered and you see the colour of their money. With a bike like this one a potential buyer will not be buying it for how well it handles, its power etc. The last thing you want is to let a buyer take your bike for a ride to see if it has enough power, do I want a bike etc question.
    Here for the ride.

This guy doesn't have a computer, so he is not a KBer. May be that's why he is so out of touch.

    Great bike but:

    No Rego,
    No WOF
    at that price,
    No Way

Alas, its a poxy old RD. Not worth a pinch of shit.

The owner must be a very busy man, "times money sonny, times money"
you obviously havent been keeping up with prices of this sort of bike.

I am just about to take a shit, I will save a pinch and swap it for your pristine RD400.

    Yep a tosser.

The alarm bell in my head has gone off. For 4.5k ish you should expect a 1970s bike to have a WOF at least. More costs for the new owner.

This is from my faded memory but what really has me suspicious is the paint job. Did they even come in plain white? I thought they all had pin striping that followed the contour of the tank and on the tail piece? It reminded me of the XS750/850s of the time.

I forgot to add that according to my 2T addicted mate the ones to go for are the C models and earlier. Wire wheels and drum rear brake. You will get top dollar for one of those. Even the later 400E models are worth more than the Fs. The problem I have been told is that the high bars and custom styling on the F didn't go down too well with the fans who wanted their bikes to look like the racing TZs.

I wonder if the Tardme guy knows all this?

That much for a 7 is a rip off... honestly. You can get a FI bike, way lighter, more performance, for the same dollars, and probably newer. I should know, I owned a modified 7, and sold for 5.5k (it had 73k on the clock tho). That said, I would avoid the orange one, unless you knew what you were doing. He started that out around 7k I think, way before I sold mine about a year ago.
